Synopsis
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 1997 Sep / Oct Vol V No 5
Parinaz Humranwala.

Dr Hahnemann advises us, that a Homoeopathic physician should himself select his. remedies, prepare them himself, and administer it to the patient with his own hands. In our busy practice dispensing becomes difficult and preparing medicines personally almost impractical. Hence every Homoeopath has to rely on a Homoeopathic pharmacy for genuine medicines. Dr Pran Gobinda Chowdhury urges Homoeopaths to demand standard methods of potentisation of Homoeopathic remedies as laid down by our master. As a Homoeopath there are a number of questions which he poses to the pharmacist as well as to the physicians.

Posology has always been a debatable topic. Dr Karunakar feels that certain remedies are best used in mother tincture form. Giving examples he writes Aconite 200 works best if administered in sugar of milk or liquid mixed in warm water.

Lyssin is prepared from the saliva of a rabid dog, hence the remedy portrays some general characters of a dog. Dr Ardhendu Shekhar presents a source analysis of Lyssin giving state in humans. Clinical cases are also cited.

Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a bone disease where bones are unduly fragile and multiple fractures occur following trivial injuries. Progressive deformity occurs because of the multiplicity of the fractures. A child prone to too many fractures may die before he acquires adult age. Dr G K Shangloo describes two cases of the same disease. A case of a 3 month old infant was treated with Nux-vom, Aconite, Sul-phur and Calc-carb. The case reported one fracture in a year and later no fracture inspite of falls.

When it comes to handling emergencies Homoeopaths rely on allopathic doctors due to lack of proper infra-structure and hospital facilities to treat the diseases. Patients also have misconceptions in their mind about the duration of treatment and feel our system of medicine is very slow in this fast moving age opines Dr S C Mishra in his article ' Homoeopathy Today'. Dr Nayan Gangopadhyay describes Emotion [an actual outburst of feeling towards a define object and is a passing phase of mind] Anxiety [is a pervasive phenomenon and common denominator in most forms of mental disorders.] The author describes them from the Homoeopathic view point and narrates the usage of some remedies for anxiety, emotion and depression.
The rest of the issue carries news reports, medicos page and book reviews.
