THE HOMOEOPATHIC PRESTIGE
April and June 2001

Endocrine system of the human body maintains homoeostasis. The endocrine disorders may be caused by hypo secretion or hypo function; hypo-responsiveness due to lack of hormone receptors in target cells; hyper secretion or hyper function due to over production of the hormone. Dr Anil Bhatia says in the April issue that use of potentised hormones in practice is effective and has cited some cases where he has successfully used ACTH, parathyroid hormone and Folliculinum. Writing on female sub- fertility Wesley New Port writes (reprint from BHJ Oct1965) that in his clinical experience Phos in highest potencies proved effective in these cases of subfertility He cited several cases to substantiate his point.

In one case a woman consulted him for not conceiving even after 11 years of married life. She and her husband had other treatment. She had normal and regular menses but had low back pain; she did not complain of any depression. She was constipated but had few likes and dislikes as regards her food. She was given Sepia 200 one dose followed by Natrum-mur 6X bd for a month and later Nux-vom 3x bds. Her husband was put on thyroid tablets. Later after 3 months of treatment she was given Phos CM three doses in one day in April1962. She had her normal menses on 12th April and thereafter she conceived and delivered a healthy baby. The doctor feels that these patients had much of Phos constitution in their make up.

In the June issue of this Journal a comprehensive article (reprint) by Dr Cecile Dubost discusses the efficacy of homoeopathic remedies in treating the anxieties of little children. Under each remedy the fears and anxieties are listed along with other keynotes of the same remedies as concomitants. Dr R Dubey, who is a regular contributor to this journal, writes about Indian drugs and their clinical application. He lists 38 drugs with thorough provings and also 12 others, which need to be proved thoroughly. He gives the clinical indications for them for example: Abroma-angusta (diabetes, amenorrhoea and dysmenorrhoea) Abroma-radix( for strengthening the uterus and for easy abortion without DandE operation), Achyranthes aspera (menorrhagia, diarrhoea and dysentery, for deafness and noises in ears) Bel (for hypochondria, melancholy and intermittent fever, bleeding piles).

Homoeopathy has well documented the effects of suppression and metastases (ie both shifting of the affection without any change to another organ, as well as change in the nature of affection itself and affecting some other organs after suppression) Dr Sundara Varadan lists the remedies indicated in some cases such as Abrotanum in rheumatism from suddenly checked diarrhoea; Berberis-vul for short cough and chest complaints especially after operations for fistulae; sudden retrocession of acute exanthema results in paralysis of brain or convulsions- Opium. Such tips will help the practitioners in cases where the present disease is a result of suppression with allopathic medicinces.

THE HOMOEOPATHIC PRESTIGE
Dec 2001

A Monthly magazine published by Pratap Homoeopathic Clinic, 954/1, Nehru Road, Arjun Nagar, Kotla Mubarakpur, New Delhi-110 003.

  1. Extract from the book "Homoeopathy: the True Science of Health" by Dr KPS Dhama in which he brings out clearly the effect of degradation of the environment of nature by man and man’s own moral degradation and their ramifications on health and sickness of the people with some case illustrations.
  2. Second part of article on heart diseases and its homoeopathic treatment by Dr C S Sandhu. After discussing how the case taking in such cases should elicit the symptoms, more particularly of uncommon nature affecting the will, intellect, memory and uncommon particular symptoms the individuality of the case to be worked out. He emphasizes that cure should always start from the center to circumference. The author specifically draws attention to Dr Kent’s observation that "if you have a heart affection, improving on your prescription and a desire to destroy life follows, you must antidote the prescription as the symptoms are taking the wrong direction" He cites a case of a patient suffering from heart disease treated by Sulphur, based on detailed case taking. He avers that Homoeopaths are in a position to treat heart diseases by strictly following the principles of Homoeopathy.
  3. Reprint of two good articles of stalwarts- Homoeopathy as an instrument of precision by Dr EW Hubbard, the simile and simillimum compared by Bellokossy.

The last artsicle is an address by Dr T Fergus Stewart on "Neurological cases which have responded to Homoeopathic treatment". His first case is of a young lady having Anterior Poliomyelitis who did well with Physostigma and Thuja. 2nd case of a young boy of 7 yr, measles convalescent encephalitis followed by hypothalamic epilepsy, the remedy - Pulsatilla.
