Dr Adele Miller discusses a case, in detail, where Gelsemium was arrived on the basis of the rubrics of the mind adopting the "Revolutionized Homoeopathy" of Dr M L Seghal. A case of a 2 yr old girl who suffered from severe constipation. Based on the statements made by the mother on the behavior of the child, following rubrics were selected: Fear of falling; Ailments from anticipation; clinging to persons or furniture; disturbed, averse to being: light desires; quiet disposition; unconsciousness, eyes cannot open.
A detailed report on the Brighton seminar on cancer by Dr Ramakrishnan of India. In his view astrocytoma of brain, Ca oral cavity, Esophagus etc respond well to Homoeopathy. Whereas malignancies of uterus, stomach and liver respond poorly to Homoeopathy.
Cancer is a complex problem & the physician is racing against time. The adverse effects of primary and secondary lesions require urgent attention. He advocates use of one medicine at a time but recommends alternation frequently. Carcinosin and Scirrhinum are the most important. Carcinosin can check the rapid deterioration in terminal cases and acts in all stages of cancer. The picture of the latter remedy closely resembles Phos.
Dr Ramakrishnan's protocol:
- First prescription of a remedy with special affinity to the site of the tumour.
- Appropriate nosode should be given intercurrently with the organ/tissue medicine and not below 30 C potency.
- When the disease comes under control, the patient's constitutional remedy should be prescribed in alternation with the first two remedies.
- At the outset, if the tumour is out of control, the organ remedy, nosode and the constitutional should be given one week each, in 30-200 -1M potencies.
- Bio-chemic salts are of great service as maintenance treatment over a long period. In bone cancer, Calcarea-flour 6X for one or two years.
Dr Ramakrishnan cautions that Homoeopathy should never be used simultaneously with chemotherapy or radiotherapy as these interfere with the action of the Homoeo medicines. The medicines can be given in between the doses of chemotherapy; where radiotherapy is given Homoeo medicines can be given on the day after radiotherapy ends.
Dr Ramakrishnan advocates a plussing method: 3 pills in 11 TSF water - one teaspoon every 15 minutes. Between doses, stir or shake water gently. Take 10 TSF over 3 hours. Reserve the last spoonful for the next day. Next day 10 teaspoons of water are added to this teaspoon and the process is repeated. Such dosing continues for seven days. In his experience, this plussing method is extremely effective to rapidly reduce the tumour size and decrease pain, without any aggravation.
Effective Rx for different cancers:
- For palliation of pain Ars-brom, Rad-brom, Plumb-iod, Mag-phos, Opium, Aconite, and Kali-salts.
- Euphorbium-officinalis in 6x or 12x is very effective for very severe burning pains
by cold applications. He is a chilly patient. - Cadmium-sulph is good for nausea from chemotherapy, along with Ars-alb, Nux-v and Ipecac.
Helium children won't let you come near them. You can do what you like; they simply won't react. They remain locked up within themselves, unapproachable and distant.
Dr Nicholus Biggins writes about dowsing (pendulum) for helping him to use his right brain for finding what remedy the patient needs, potency, repetition, frequency etc. He discovered that some patients did better if they bathe in their remedy, put it in bath or apply to parts of the body. The latter works well with colours when applied to different "chakras" in our body.
Part 2 of Dr Ian Watson's article "Prescribing from an energy perspective" also appears in this issue. Understanding our own body energy is the best case-taking tool. Five energy centers, called emotion centers, which correspond to chakras as per the Hindu philosophy. Our lowest centre is our base chakra and remedies like Aconite, Arnica and trauma remedies like Stram and Opium are relevant here. Shame and guilt is in the second centre and solar plexus is the chakra where we store anger, fear and butterflies of anticipation. Grief and sadness we store in heart centre. Throat centre is more to do with the expression or non-expression of the emotional states; not a place to store but rather TO BLOCK emotions. Loss of voice or throat constriction, or lump in throat means that a powerful emotion is not being expressed. Dr Watson says when one understands the fact that whenever a patient comes to the clinic there is interaction between his and your energy fields and when one is aware, then the remedy comes out clearly.
That is the field effect. Rapport with the patient means patient knows what he needs and you, his doctor, have access to that information.
