HOLISTIC HEALING
Vol 1 No 4 -Dec 98
It is a monthly publication of the Express Group of Newspapers. Each issue is devoted to update developments in various alternative medicines. It is a welcome monthly. Two articles on Homoeopathy deal generally with Homoeopathic treatment of trauma and chronic diseases. Girdhari B Luthria writes about Joheri - a Japanese healing art propagated by Mr Mokichi Okada. The basic principle here is to treat humans holistically by eradicating the disease clouds on the spiritual body and to restore the balance between spiritual and physical body. This is achieved by concentrating on the three basic elements of fire, water and earth (which is similar to tridosha of Ayurveda) by utilizing the universal energy. This issue also highlights that more and more people in USA are veering towards alternative therapies. A study of 38 women who were given specialized acupuncture treatment in USA demonstrated significant relief in depression comparable to those of psychotherapy or pharmacotherapy & full symptom remission. Dr Srinivasan writes about mindset and mind-power - a very important dimension of holistic approach to disease management. The functioning of every brain cell depends on its chemistry; sodium, potassium, chloride and other ions determine their behaviour. Depending on these ionic currents the nerve cells get excited or depressed resulting in positive or negative mindset. Other articles update information on siddha medicine, ayurveda and nature cure.
The January issue of this monthly carries an article on a Siddha medicine, Radhanamudham, made from herbs can be an effective cure for AIDS and it is under testing.
