Indian Institute of Homoeopathic Physicians AP State branch conducted 'One day scientific seminar' at Hotel Swarna Palace, Vijayawada on 13th February 2005, hosted by Vijayawada unit of IIHP.
Prof Dr R Sambasiva Rao, Vice chancellor, NTR University of Health sciences of AP, inaugurated the seminar by invoking the traditional jyothi and advised the doctors to be thorough in their knowledge by conducting regular seminars. He said that quackery as like in other systems of medicine and opined that the govt may bring and enforce the anti quackery law as the quacks may be doing more harm than good to the society and also to the system. Extra mural research must be welcomed apart from the regular one done through the government. He also opined that more medical colleges can be opened in private sector as the popularity is growing well.
Participating as guest of honor Dr KRK Prabhakara Murty, National Secretary General of IIHP, deplored the step motherly attitude of the governments towards Homoeopathy even though this is the cost effective and easily taken medicine having no side effects and requested the govt of AP to open government Homoeo dispensaries in every mandal and a 20 bedded hospitals in every dist head quarters. The association is acting in a proper way by conducting medical camps in remote areas to popularize the system, conducting periodical CME programmes for the benefit of doctors.IIHP, AP state president Dr MDV Ramana Rao presided the inaugural session. Earlier hosting Dt president Dr T Kanakalingeswara Rao welcomed the gathering.
1st scientific session was chaired by Dr KRK Prabhakara Murty. In his first paper on 'VITILIGO' Dr R Gnanasambandham of Chennai detailed the anamnesis of Leucoderma. He told the difference between these two must be taken into account before proceeding to the treatment. He opined that those appear after any accidents, iatrogenic causes can be called as leucoderma and the rest originating without these causes can be termed as Vitiligo.
He displayed some of the cured cases on LCD. Detailing the way of treatment Arsenic Album is useful in cases of fastidious natured patients, Hypericum was used in a case where the distribution of patches was on a particular nerve path, Sepia was used in a case where the patches were on face across the nose. He concluded that keen observation would enable all to treat the Vitiligo successfully.
Next paper was presented by Dr P Venkatraman of Chennai on 'Infertility'. He opined that the male infertility is on the rise because of smoking, ghutka etc. He explained the deductive logic of arriving at the right diagnosis for effective treatment. He found Selenium, Acid Phos, Flouric Acid, Lycopodium etc, as the effective remedies for good recovery.
In female Infertility also diagnosis plays an important role for a good prescription. He got good benefit with Sepia in a good number of cases basing on indifference, early abortions and other constitutional symptoms.
Then Dr Gnanasambandham took on a 'virtual tour on Hahnamann'. He narrated with the help of visual photographs from birth place of the master, then the places where he lived and practiced, then where he was buried in a common cemetery and later shifted to another grave yard specially meant for glorified personalities. He also showed the various statue of the founder existing in many parts of the world.
Chairman Dr Prabhakara Murthy complimented both of them for excellent presentations. Post lunch session was chaired by Dr N Srinivasa Rao of Hyderabad who is the vice president [south] of IIHP. Dr Venkatraman took up 'Treatment of Acute Diseases with Homoeopathy'. He explained that anti miasmatic drugs are much helpful to break the ice in many critical cases to get results in few hours. He gave number of examples of cases which was very impressive.
Next programme was an educative quiz on Homoeopathy organized by IIHP Visakha unit on the lines of 'Kaun Banega Carodepathy'. The quiz was interesting and the guest speakers also participated actively in it.
Final programme belongs to Dr Gnanasambandham as he took up 'spirit of Homoeopathy in Thyroid'. He narrated the anamnesis first and then treatment part of Thyroid disorders. As the thyroid disorders influence the menstrual cycles and in turn resulting infertility. Iodium, Natrum Mur etc, are found to be useful and Dr Gnana displayed the visuals of treated cases before and after treatment to the satisfaction of all the delegates.
Finally the organizing secretary Dr D Prasad to proposed vote of thanks to all the participants for the success of the seminar.
About 125 delegates participated from 16 of the 23 districts in the state enjoyed the sessions, went back with full satisfaction satiating their academic appetite.
