Organum 2005, April 2005, Calicut
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 2005 Mar / Apr VOL VIII NO 2.
Reported by
Dr Mansoor Ali

"Organum 2005", the first national convention and international homoeopathic seminar of Indian Homoeopathic Medical Association (IHMA) was conducted on 9th and 10th of April 2005 at Kadavu resorts, Calicut. Kerala.

Day 1: 9Th April: Scientific seminar inaugurated by Dr M P Prakasan, Honorable CCH member and Asst Professor, Dept of Practice of Medicine, Government Homoeopathic Medical College, Calicut.

Dr Prafull Vijayakar, the Master of Predictive Homoeopathy lead the seminar on "Predictive Homoeopathy" which was well received by 800 delegates. He opened the basic concept of disease being an opportunity for inflammation to defend and repair. He illustrated this with many cases with video clips.

He beautifully correlated certain well known principles of immunology, genetics, embryology etc. with the doctrine of miasm .He explained that during the course of treatment many patients develop early signs of suppression from one miasm to another. He argued that the greatest discovery by Hahnemann is the discovery of miasm as the basis of chronic maladies, without the proper understanding of miasm, homeopathy remains defective. Vijayakar explained theory of suppression, Hering's law of cure, genome theory, vaccinations etc. with case reports and charts in a novel way.

Second Day 10th April: Dr Prafull Vijayakar delivered the Hahnemann memorial speech which itself was a privileged presentation with rare pictures and documents of Hahnemann which the faculty collected during their visit to Germany.

The national convention of Indian Homoeopathic Medical Association (IHMA) was inaugurated by Dr Jose Issac, CCH member from University of Kerala. In his speech, Dr. Jose Issac underlined the need for a united national platform to fight against the anomalies of our system and to safe guard the purity of Homoeopathy. Dr M G Oommen, National President of IHMA requested the Central Government to start independent directorates for Homoeopathy in other states like in Kerala which is playing a pivotal role in the development of classical homoeopathy in the state. He also demanded to confer "National Institute of Homoeopathy status" to Calicut and Trivandrum Homoeopathic Medical colleges which are the two best colleges in India. Dr S Sreejeev- the secretary general of IHMA presented the key note address. He explained the development of IHMA in other states and the overall positive responses towards IHMA from homoeopathic fraternity.

Dr. Prafull Vijayakar continued his third session in the afternoon where he explained the theory of miasm and suppression in simple words studded with many remarkable case reports. He said that the study of modern advances made in pathology and embryology has helped to decode the actual meaning of what Hahnemann could have meant by miasm. His presentation was really thought provoking and worthy.
