In the most advanced nation in the Gulf, Dubai, the Dubai International Homoeopathic Conference (DIHC) was held on 6th and 7th Feb, 2005 at 'Crowne Plaza' - a 5 Star Hotel. There were 70 delegates from India and 110 from other nations which included Homoeopathic doctors from England, Germany, Canada and Australia.
In the inaugural function Dr K P Hussain, President, DIHC welcomed the delegates. Dr Esmail Sati, General and Retired Principal of Calcutta Homoeopathic College gave keynote address in which he explained the difficulties of arranging this conference - first of its kind in this part of the world.
H E Dr Abdul Gaffers M AI Hawi, undersecretary, Ministry of Health, UAE while giving the inaugural note as Chief Guest, explained that there are 10 general hospitals and 10 more are coming up. There are 5000 private practitioners in UAE and 50 to 60% of people are now opting for alternative systems of medicines. 70% of the population is going to private practitioners. He threw an open welcome to all the Homoeopathic doctors to take up a special exam of Minister of Health and get themselves regarded as practitioners in UAE.
This was followed by the felicitation to Dr S P S Bakshi, President, CCH, Government of India. In his address Dr Bakshi, while enumerating the status of Homoeopathy, and its education in India, extended full support and co-operation to UAE government for establishing a Homoeopathic College in Dubai.
In his vote of thanks Dr Sassan Bathmat, co-ordinator, National Center for CAM, Abu Dhabi (UAE) had quoted that in India people sing Saare Jahan Se Acha Hindustan Hamara, but in Dubai they say that the world is beautiful and world is one. He said that UAE strikes hard for quality medicine.
This was followed by the 1st Scientific sessions on scope of Homoeopathy In management of Malignancy chaired by Dr K V John. The 3 speakers viz; Dr. Sossiekassab of Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital, UK, Dr Esmail Saif, India and Dr Piphurwe D'souza, Dubai dealt on their experiences in treating cancer patients with some cases. Post lunch session was chaired by Dr D P Rastogi.
Dr K M Dhawale, India spoke at length about various behavioral disorders and the homeopathic approach in these cases. He also showed some cases as to how they were cured with in an hour. Post tea session was exclusively on dental problems and their management with Homoeopathic medicines. It was chaired by Dr Jose Kiroam, Dubai and the speaker was Dr Peter Darby from faculty of Homeopathy, UK.
On 7.2.2005 1st session was chaired by Stephen Gordon, UK. and Utike Kessler, Germany, spoke on the scope of Homoeopathy in Dermatology. She was of the opinion that if treated carefully any dermatological problem is amenable to Homoeopathy.
2nd session was on management of Adenoids under the chairmanship of Dr Ravi M Nair, India while presenting his scientific paper on this topic Dr P K Sudhir, Salem college principal, showed the photographs of many children having been treated for adenoids problem, before and after the treatment. He stressed more on Atrophies-notions as the best drug of choice apart from other.
In the prelunch session chaired by Dr Gardener Pal. Dr S Pawan Kumar discussed about the clinical aspects of CRF and showed 4 cases of ARF and CRF being treated with constitutional Homoeopathic treatment successfully. He was of the opinion that the constitutional remedy would be useful but some rare remedies like Solidago, Eel-serum, Piassava, Tereb and Cupr-ars are very efficacious in controlling the renal parameters.
In the open session Dr E S Raj Salem spoke on Chronic Miasma and their utility. Dr S Aruna, Hyderabad spoke on the recently concluded work on Rheumatoid Arthritis conducted by the Research Dept in Homeopathy.
Last session was on the role of Homoeopathic Medicine in Backache by Dr Laurence Vanniekerk, Australia. He stressed more on Cheiropraxis to treat backache.
In the valedictory function the speakers and delegates were given the certificates signed by the MOH, UAE.
