Bholada, as we used to call him, was one of the most famous and busy practitioners of Calcutta. He was with my mother, the late Dr Sarla Sonawala, in college, so we have had the pleasure of having him stay at our house in the early days. Once I remember, in 1991, when my mother and I went to Calcutta for a conference, we were invited to meet him at his chambers. A huge consulting room, a large table dominated the room, at least 3 groups of patients sat around it and he would take them each by turn. I had never seen anything like this and was quite amazed by his mode and facileness of dealing with patients at one and same time. He was always jolly. He has treated all from the ministers to the common man and won many accolades for Homoeopathy. Homoeopathy owes him much!

He will be sorely missed by the fraternity.
May God give his family and us, his other family, the strength to bear this loss.

We feel very sorry to announce the sad demise of Dr BN Chakraborty of Kolkata on 3rd March 26, 2005 after a prolonged illness. He was one of the all time greats of Indian Homoeopathy. He has been a simple prescriber with deep meaning in each and every act. He has been a regular visitor to all conferences, presented number of papers, acclaimed by all. He has been one of our earliest life members of Indian Institute of Homoeopathic Physicians.

He is a well known philanthropist, associated with number of voluntary organizations. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
