This book under review is by Dr Subrata Kumar Banerjea - fourth generation homoeopath of a distinguished and widely respected Homoeopathic family in Calcutta, having several other excellent and enlightening books in homoeopathy, to his credit.

He has strongly stressed the inclusion of miasm in homoeopathic prescription in this book. He has defined Miasm as an invisible, inimical, dynamic principle which permeates into the system of a living creature, creating a groove or stigma in the constitution which can only be eradicated by a suitable anti-miasmatic remedy. If effective anti-miasmatic treatment is not given then the miasm will persist throughout the life of the person and will be transmitted to the next generation. He has very clearly explained this in his ten principles of miasm.

There are six main sections to this book, which are as follows:

Part-I: Philosophy and Utility Of Miasm: Here he has discussed the philosophical background of miasm and his views regarding suppression and the need for miasmatic prescription in the modern world. Key words are presented to reflect the miasmatic tendencies.

Part-II: Miasmatic Diagnostic Classification: Starting from different mental symptoms, head to the schematic classification of the four miasms, including his tips for rapid miasmatic diagnosis. He has described under keyword, points like location, sensation, modalities and concomitants of various symptoms.

Part-III: Miasmatic Diagnosis of Clinical Classification: He has shared all the possible clinical nosological names under their respective miasmatic headings, thus enabling fast diagnosis of the corresponding miasm.

Part IV: Miasmatic Ancestral Tips: All tips from his four generations of Miasmatic prescribers and miasmatic interpretation of the various symptomatic manifestation of Bronchospasm, AIDS, Rheumatic condition, Skin complaints, pediatrics and malignancy etc.

Part V: Miasmatic Repertory: This has been written very extensively in a lucid manner, for quick miasmatic diagnosis.

Part VI: Miasmatic Weightage of Medicines: It is indeed a comprehensive guide to the miasmatic weight value or gradation of different homoeopathic remedies. He has also listed all leading anti-miasmatic for easy reference.

Dr S K Banerjea and his team has put in stupendous effort to complete this ready reckoner for miasmatic prescribing. This book reflects the remarkable knowledge, enthusiasm and in-depth of understanding of miasms. He has indeed repaid his debt to Homoeopathy by writing this book. Our Heartiest Congratulation and thanks to the author, for bringing out a book to make things so easy for all of us. It is indeed a must in early Homoeopath’s day to day Reference Library. The book printing and binding should be improved upon so as to last the frequent usage of the book.
