Tips for symptom prevention
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 2004 Nov / Dec VOL VI NO 6.
Dr Nitisha Lunawat

  1. Inside Your Home
    1. Regularly vacuum clean the carpets and other furnishings at least once a week.
    2. Opt for light weight curtains which can be washed at least monthly in hot water.
    3. Prefer window shades made of cotton or other material to venetian blinds.
    4. Avoid keeping pets in the bedroom at night .Bathe your pet weekly with shampoo.
    5. Close your windows at night since night air carries more pollens.
    6. Cover your mattress and box spring in plastic encasings.
    7. Repair any plumbing leaks to reduce mould growth.
    8. Check your refrigerator weekly for spoiled foods and throw them off.
    9. Make sure that dried grains including flour, rice, cereals and dry pet foods are carefully sealed.
    10. Use a damp cloth to dust.
    11. Carefully read labels on hair sprays, perfumes, shave lotions and underarm deodorants-they may contain allergens.
  2. Outside Your Home
    1. Wash your hands after gardening, handling animals to avoid rubbing allergens into eyes/nasal mucosa.
    2. Perform low level exercise daily like walking at normal speed and deep breathing.
    3. Wear a mask over mouth and nose while traveling.
    4. Early morning and late night air carries more pollens. Plan outdoor activities at other times.
  3. Inside Your Car
Use recirculation mode on air conditioner while traveling by car during heavy pollen occurrences. Outside your car intake vents draw pollen into the car.
