A book on Cardiovascular diseases and their Homoeopathic treatment is a rare one. Dr Balakrishnan has made a commendable effort to sincerely write one. In this book, he has very concisely touched upon various subjects related to cardiovascular diseases. He has written about Heart and Blood Circulaton, conditions like Hypertension, Angina Pectoris, Cardiac Hypertrophy, Valvular diseases, Endocarditis, Myocarditis, Percarditis, etc.

Then he has discussed Homoeo-therapeutics in each of the above mentioned conditions giving the genus of each remedy in relation to the condition. He has given many illustrative examples and what remedies were used.

I would like to quote what Dr K S Srinivasan has written in his foreword:
In M L Tyler’s Drug Picture, we will find a rhyme of the Symptoms of some emergency heart remedies.

"Feels, if she moves, her heart will fail" is a pretty strong plea for Digitalis.
"Must keep on moving, or her heart will stop", Gelsemium here comes out easily on top.

While with Lobelia, you hear her say "its going to stop whichever way." With the Cactus heart, iron band constriction of chest, uterus and rectum.

Lachesis has constriction of chest on waking; Arsenicum-album gets constriction and oppression on walking.
You will play Tiger lily to splendidly comfort her woe, whose heart is alternatively grasped and let go.
Iodium
has a heart simply squeezed and no more, the most violent heart for Spigelia roar."

This can help to quickly compare the emergency heart remedies.
Homoeopathic practitioners rarely get an opportunity to treat Heart disease because of great alarm and panic created by Medical columns in periodicals and media. However if a Homoeopath has the opportunity to treat Cardiovascular diseases, he/she must be well armed , and Dr Balakrishnan’s book will be a good reference book for the same.
