Tonsils-Killing Soldiers

Mast AS, 7-yr, was advised immediate tonsillectomy by a renowned ENT surgeon. He was under antibiotic treatment. He could not attend school regularly due to his illness and his parents were worried about his health and over all education. His parents decided not to operate and opted for homoeopathic treatment.
Chief Complaints
1) Coryza, since 15 days. Continuous running nose < Winter, < banana,
< curd, < icecream.
> Antibiotics. He gets frequent attacks of common cold, since last 5 years.
2) Right-temporal region headache with running of nose. Bursting type of
headache > Pressure.
3) Fever- High grade fever, since 8 days. Every attack of cold is accompanied by
high fever followed by weakness. These attacks come once in a month and he has
to miss school.
4) All the symptoms last at least 8 days.
- Cough-whitish, thick, difficult to expectorate.
- Cough aggravates at night and wakes him.
- Difficulty in swallowing.
Patient as a person
Constitution-Lean, thin, child. Dimples on both cheeks
Personal History
Appetite-Diminished because of symptoms.
Otherwise appetite good. Desire-Sweet
Aversion-Spinach. Intolerance-Banana, curd, Ice-cream
Bowels-Not satisfactory. Hard stools since age 3.
Sometimes, does not pass stool for 2 consecutive days..
Itching, burning and redness of anus after stool.
Urine - Normal
Perspiration - Not much. He sweats on the whole body, but only on exertion,
Sleep - Sound. But since 15 days, he cannot sleep because of cough and wakes up
frequently.
Dreams - Dreams of ghosts (skeleton), horror, fearful dreams. (as narrated by
patient)
Thermals - Chilly
Milestones - At proper age
Vaccination - All done.
Family History
Father-Businessman. No major illness.
Mother-Housewife. P/H tonsillitis.
Mentals
Short tempered. Likes company. Makes friends easily. Caring. Sensitive.
His frequent attacks of fever since last 5 years, make him miss school once in a
month and his grades are affected. He is an intelligent and active child .Grasps
easily. But when sick, he becomes dull and pale.
On Examination
Wt: 16 Kg.
Pulse: 100/min. Respiratory rate: 22/min.
Chest: Clear
Throat: Both tonsils enlarged. Right more red than left.

Conclusion
Tonsillitis in childhood hampers overall development of child and affects
basic education seriously. If this continues for a long time it may lead to
chronic respiratory disorders. Tonsils are like soldiers to ward off any oral
infection.
We can prevent tonsillectomy by proper, regular homoeopathic treatment.
