Seminar on Neurological Disorders

Indian Institute of Homeopathic Physicians, Delhi branch organized one day seminar on Neurological disorders at Nehru Homoeopathic Medical College auditorium, Defence Colony, New Delhi on April 18th 2004.

The inaugural address by Dr Varshney, President IIHP, was followed by lighting the lamp and garlanding the statue of Dr Hahnemann by Dr Deewan Harishchand, Dr V K Gupta, Dr D P Rastogi, Dr Khan, Dr Geeta Mongia, Dr Anupam Malhotra.

On this occasion which marked 249th birth anniversary of Dr Hahnemann, Dr Anupam Malhotra exhorted homoeopaths to imbibe the qualities of Great Master - Diligence, Perseverance, Conscientiousness, firm belief in Almighty God and respect for the dignity of profession.

Pre-lunch session on Post Polio Residual Paralysis, Dr Kavita Roy discussed in detail, the etiology, sign and symptoms, prevalence and management of the disorder with homoeopathic drugs. She emphasized on importance of physiotherapy along with homoeopathic remedies. Regular muscle charting should be carried to assess the progress of the case. Underlying miasm in polio is Psoric and psoro-sycotic which includes remedies like Sulph, Tuberculinum, Psor, Med, Thuja, Syph. The constitutional medicines may be Pul, Nat-sul, Silicia, Merc-sol, Cal-c. Due to paucity of symptoms in these cases, short acting remedies like Rhus-tox, Bry, Arn, Ruta, Gel, Bell, Caust also play an important role.

Second speaker was Dr Vinod Purim HOD Neurology, G B Pant Hosp, New Delhi spoke on Parkinsonism. This session was chaired by Dr Deewan Harishchand.

Post-lunch session began with Dr Vishpala Parthasarathy NJH Editor from Mumbai, She discussed Bell's Palsy with the help of slides about anatomy and distribution of 7th cranial nerve. She gave a beautiful drug picture of Medorrhinum starting from child to young adolescent and adult. Her presentation of drug pictures always leaves deep impression in the mind. She described Medorrhinum having enormous appetite for life, a voracious eater and the one who wants to enjoy life. Med child is fearless, inquisitive, adventurous and full of energy. Med girl is charming, who keeps watching her reflection in the mirror. Med people are good mediators. She discussed two cases, one of premenstrual syndrome cured by Med and other case of Bells palsy cured by Caust.

The last speaker of the seminar was CMO-Neurology, Safdarjang Hospital, Dr Manjit Oberoi. He impressed everybody with his knowledge of Homoeopathy and the cases he cured with high potencies. A case of Parkinsonism where tremors disappeared with Hyos 10M, the patient being suspicious of his wife. Plumb-met showed good result in many cases of Post-Polio Paralysis. Cup-met 200/1M shows good effects in breath holding spells. He has cured cases of Myasthenia Gravis with Gel and Caust. This session was chaired by Dr V K Gupta and Dr V K Khanna.

This one day seminar was appreciated by all the delegates and students.
