Case 1:
Mr S K Aggarwal, 50 yrs, came to me on 16/01/ 1997,wtih a varicose ulcer on right leg about 3" above the medial malleolus since a fortnight which bled copiously when the patient stood up. He had severely engorged varicose veins on the right leg for a long time. On the day of his visit to my clinic there was active bleeding.

  • The skin of the leg was almost black in a large area around the ulcer and mottled all over the leg.
  • Itching all around the ulcer.
  • Pain in the ulcer < on standing < night.
  • Temperament very irritable
Past history: Similar milder ulceration 4 years ago.
Before me, he had consulted a famous doctor of the city, who advised him to keep the affected leg up at 90° against the wall lying in bed. He must keep this posture till the wound is healed. This was practically impossible to do!
Lachesis
30 alternately with Placebo TDS for 4 days.
He was advised to rest in bed to avoid pressure on the leg and the ulcer.

20/1/1997 Pain reduced to a great degree. Bleeding almost stopped. He walked up to his bathroom today. Did not get bleeding from the ulcer.
Lachesis
200 at longer intervals with placebo.

5/2/1997 Feeling much better. The ulcer has dried up completely and a crust has formed.
Medicine as above continued.

19/4/1997 The wound healed up completely, the crust has fallen off. Colour of the skin also improved. There was some improvement in the swollen varicose veins too. But the patient did not continue the treatment for the varicose veins.

Case 2:
Mr Rajesh Khurana,33 years. Date of first consultation:14/6/2001. He was suffering for six years from varicose veins on left leg. He has a recurrent varicose ulcer on the left leg about two inches above the inner ankle. The skin all around the ulcer has become dark. Patient’s job requires him to keep standing most of the time. The ulcer is painless and does not bleed.
  • Feels heaviness in the abdomen.
  • Has much flatulence.
  • Tendency of constipation, ineffectual urge.
Carbo-veg 1 M one dose followed by Lachesis 200 at long intervals.

17/07/2001 The varicose ulcer became active. Lachesis 200 one dose after three days.

18/08/2001 There is some > in the ulcer.
Lachesis
200 continued as above.

21/9/2001 The varicose ulcer dried up and healed. Lachesis 200 continued as above.

30/10/2001 There is further >. The discoloration of the skin much improved. There was improvement in the swelling of the varicose veins too.
