Penta-C Agnosis: Fivefold Blindness in Clinicians

Most of us know of the story of the six blind men describing
an elephant. Akin to these Six Blind Men of Indostan, we are clinicians grouping
with the unrecognized handicaps in five major areas of the day to day grind of
medical practice, be it Homoeopathy, allopathy or any other pathy.
The Americans with their innate paranoia have recognized
cancer as The Big C. The bigger C is coronary and the biggest c is death or
Cessation. It is quite funny that despite all the gloss of gadgetry, the biggest
discovery of the last 100 years in science has been that of the irremediable
ignorance of mankind. Regarding the major "Killer diseases" modern
medicine as well as the rival alternative medicines are gloriously ignorant of
the basic concept (definition of the disease), cause of the disease, Course off
it, Cure for it and the Complications of the disease as well as the therapy. Our
continuing ignorance in these five vital areas has been abbreviated by us as
Penta-C-Agnosis. This unacknowledged negative side of the so called modern
medicine rules the roost in the areas of, for example, coronary artery disease
including heart attack, cancer and cerebrovascular diseases or stroke. We have
come across only a rare medical man who is conscious of the intellectual
bankruptcy of the biggest medical practitioner or any modern fifteen star
hospital. How many of us are cognizant of the fact that the magical figure of
120/80 as the ideal BP has been foisted on medical world and hence on mankind by
American insurance companies with the sole idea of reaping huge profits? Sir
George Pickering, a leading British authority on BP cried hoarse all his life
that nobody has defined until today, normality of BP. Nobody knows where
normality ends and the abnormalities of high/low BP begin. Cad, Cancer, and Cvd
have not been defined as yet and so are Diabetes Mellitus or Arthritis.
Having goofed up on the basic concept or definition, medicos
are thoroughly ignorant of the cause/ course/ cure/ complications that attend
any heart attack, stroke or cancer. The net result has been that in all these
areas there has been no progress worth writing home about in the last 300 years.
All that medicos do or the patients receive is some form of palliation best
known as PQEST meaning Patchwork Quilt rewarding Symptomatic Therapies. Either
the symptom is suppressed, or a sign removed without honestly doing anything to
alter the course of the disease. Investigations however sophisticated, ultra
manages to mislead, and treatments however costly, manage to hurt. The biggest
sacrifice is given by the animals who are tortured beyond imagination in the
experimental labs. It is humbling to realize that the killing of billions of
animals has not mitigated our Penta-C-Agnosis even for such banal things as
arthritis or infection. Modern medicine has drawn a blank. Nothing on the
horizon can offer us a better future.
The bottom line of the above is humility. We medicos, here or
in the most advanced country should accept the profundity, the seeming
perversity and the hopeless incurability of our Penta-C-Agnosis. This done, we
will diagnose/ treat/ prognose/ experiment/ spend/ kill and the animal world
left to play with us. Our Penta-C-Agnosis cannot be cured, even if ten times the
money that the tycoon Dhirubhai Ambani has left, were to be poured down the
medical drain every day.
