CASES MATERIA MEDICA GENERAL ARTICLES ABSTRACT MISCELLANEOUS Q & A

Readers Page
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 2001 Nov / Dec VOL III NO 6.

I was happy to read your case reference your article "Is prescribing so easy" in NJH, March-April 2001-Kali Issue.

There are occasions when different strands of vitality deranged do get mixed up in a case. You were correct in starting with Opium and you did notice the fact that cuprum met took care of her food colics and Kali-brom of her basic epileptic fits-speaking for myself though one would like a constitutional remedy to be given alone-obviously in your case you did the right thing in giving both, because how long can one wait with Kali-brom alone to relieve her colic and indigestion state? To that extent I am not in agreement with the views of your learned editor, though in principle she is right. Were you really in a panic when you gave these two remedies together-as your editor seems to suggest? Or was it a calculated conscious decision to do so, in the best interest of your patient? Please feel free to reply only if you feel like. Congratulations anyhow!!!

Dr D E Mistry, Editor Homoeopathic Clinical Case Recorder.

Dr Padmaja Pai-Shenoy replies: in a busy practice one take decision on the basis of all information available at that time. I don't normally prescribe to remedies together. Though unorthodox the treatment gave results. I acted in the way I did as I saw no other option-panic or calculation! No one can deny the results.

Dr Babulal writes in:
As you have written an excellent article an empirical study on lymphadenopathy in NJH issue May-June 2000 (T.B. Issue). Some points are not clear.

  1. Signs and Symptoms in all cases-Ars-iod. But surprisingly in all cases symptoms of only one remedy Ars-iod were found.
  2. Ars-iod TDS for 2-3 months until the cervical glands were gone. In 2 or 3 months did they disappear completely?
  3. Tub-1M 2 doses per month was given along with Ars-iod or after stopping Ars-iod?

Dr Padmaja Pai-Shenoy replies: Tub was given along with Ars-iod once in two weeks as Intercurrent and into 2 or 3 months the glands completely gone. All my cases had Ars-iod traits?
