CME on Autism and Tarentula- Jan 2001, Hyderabad
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 2000 Nov / Dec VOL II NO 6.
Reported by
Dr S Praveen Kumar
'Tarent

The Homoeo Learners Club arranged the Jan bimonthly CME on Autism. Paediatrician Dr K Ashok of National Institute of Mental Health, Hyderabad said Autistic children are on the rise 1-4 per 10,000. A likely causative factor is MMR vaccines. The main problem is social communication. They have a special attraction to particularly spinning objects.

2nd Session: Prof G Janardhan Reddy spoke on Tarentula- a hyperkinetic child. Tarentula child is quite opposite to the Autistic child yet both are abnormal. He cited a few cured cases.

Case 1: of a child, so violent that the father even nurtured the idea of killing the boy! They were then living in USA. The child used to cry, shout, and scream and beat others. The neighbours complained to the police and subsequently parents received warnings. They had to leave the country and return to Hyderabad, leaving their job, livelihood and everything. On this violent nature was chosen. Tarantula 10M, 50M and then CM. In 6 months it helped tame the child.

Case 2: Dr GJR has cured the violence of the child where he used to beat his elder brother and sister and enjoy it. His affection was also violent. It left teeth marks on the mother's cheeks. Again Tarentula helped.

Last Session: Veteran, Dr K Sivashankar spoke on "An approach to a selection of Remedy". He opined that quite a number of symptoms described as characteristics would fall from higher to lower grade when their pathological relationship is understood. Hence, he stressed, that pathological symptoms should be given equal importance in the selection of a remedy, more so when other indications are not available.

Question-Answer session was very interactive.
