CASES MATERIA MEDICA GENERAL ARTICLES ABSTRACT MISCELLANEOUS Q & A

Letters to the Editor
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 1999 Sep / Oct VOL VIII NO 5.

Correction
Please refer to Case no 3the article 'use of Bach Flower remedies during pregnancy" by Dr Padmaja Shenoy in our Issue No VolI No3 -page 185. The following sentence was omitted inadvertently while formatting the text. It should come after the 10th line of that case and read as under:-

"June27/98- Count 68 million/ml. Grade III&IV 60%; Grade I&II 40%." This shows that the count and motility increased after Homoeopathic treatment as a result of which the patient got pregnant again.
We are sorry for the omission of this crucial sentence.

It is with real nostalgia that I read NJH issues. My parental home is at Mumbai. I used to travel from Mulund to Dr Kasad's Clinic at Byculla, till I was in Mumbai. I wanted to continue but the circumstances prevented me. I never dreamt that sitting here at Kakinada, I would read Dr Kasad Sir's articles and cases. NJH has proved to be very helpful for me. I wish I had started subscribing for it earlier. Anyway I have done it. I have received 3 issues of 1999 and I am eagerly awaiting the remaining three issues.
Dr B Priyashobha, Kakinada

Editor: We are happy to receive your letter and as you might have seen Dr Kasad is our Hony Advisor and contributes articles to our Journal periodically. You need not feel unhappy for not having subscribed to our Journal earlier. Bound volumes of each year's issues are available at Rs 150/- yrly for 1995-97 and Rs 200/- for 1998.

Man Behind The Show I read with interest the report on the Similimum Seminar organized by Medicure Foundation, Mumbai in June 1999 published in the Natrum group issue. As usual the man behind the show was forgotten while compiling the report. Kudos to Dr Jawahar Shah for the tremendous efforts put in by him and his team in organizing such an interesting and educative seminar and conducting it so well despite all odds including inclement weather and for roping in some computer manufacturers, CHIP magazine and Medicynth as sponsors for the show.
T K Kasiviswanathan. Mumbai

How Will You Handle This Case?
This refers to your write-up " How will you handle this case?", published in Jan-Feb 1999 issue. I was particularly impressed by the presentation of case- sequence by sequence on succeeding pages allowing the reader to plan the solution at each step. However what fascinated me most was your resolution of the case entirely by counseling. I quite believe it is possible to solve such cases by counseling. But I would like to paraphrase this counseling technique in Homoeopathic parlance as " Homoeopsychotherapy". In the words of Dr Rajan Sankaran, it is a unique way of giving the patient a 'similar stimulus' through words and images rather than administering any medicine. The idea is to provide a similar state through an appropriate dialogue to trigger a curative action.

In the case of your patient too exactly the same thing appears to have happened. Although the lady's parents-in-law had showed readiness to accept her after they married off their two daughters, she never prima-facie believed them. When you convinced her logically that they would accept her and have a grand wedding, she immediately jumped up confessing "yes, that is what they have said." This is where the curative action was triggered on by your providing exact similimum through persuasive words of counseling. All the other consoling antipathic arguments would not have moved her at all. It would therefore be quite appropriate to call this proven technique as " Homoeopshychotheraphy."
Dr Kuldip Singh Mohali

Editor: Thank you, Dr Kuldip for the appropriate comments. As an update: the patient is quite fine till today and the In-laws have accepted her, just as we hypothesized.
