Father Muller Homoeopathic college, Mangalore, organised Homoeopathy'99 on 9th & 10th Oct 99 at their large, airy hall. It was inaugurated by the Bishop of Mangalore. Dr Bakshi of CCH was the chief guest; he exhorted the students to be true to Homoeopathy, now and always.
The Scientific Session:
Dr S K Tiwari, the principal, illustrated a case of allergic angio-neurotic-oedema. A 60-yr-old woman was admitted to the emergency ward with swelling of the buccal mucosa, constrictive feeling in throat, difficulty in speaking, swallowing, breathing and fear of collapse. She was < nights and > coldwater and ice cream. In the past she had been admitted elsewhere several times for the same complaint. Apis 200 was given. In ½ hr she was slightly better. Apis 200 was repeated and she was 40% better in 1hr.
Case 2: Atopic eczema with secondary infection all over the body with oozing serum when admitted. He was in hospital for 1mth. Echinaceae Q wash and Calendula Q were applied externally. In 3 days the stench was less. Kreos and Psor- the indicated remedies cleared the infection. He emphasised the importance of removing the miasmatic base of the disease.
Dr. Rudresh of B'lore presented some dramatic cases of advanced renal pathology. He said the biggest challenge in such cases was to stop the march of renal pathology and kidney failure.
Case 1: A 43 yr male came with signs and symptoms of pedal oedema and chronic glomerulo-nephritis since 3 mths. He was on dialysis every 4th day.
Life Story: He lost his parents in early childhood and came up in life the hard way: worked his way through college, got a bank job as a clerk and got married. Despite begetting a nice child, the wife was always domineering, dissatisfied and he slowly realised that his wife only liked his money. One day the wife walked out of his house, filed a criminal case of dowry and he was arrested on a nonbailable warrant. His self esteem was totally shattered. He was released later on bail. Ever since his kidneys were damaged. He was sad, dejected, humiliated, angry and an introvert with disappointment in love. Nat-mur 1M repeated when necessary, stopped the dialysis in 2 weeks! The S.Creatine.levels were down in 3 mths and after 3 mths he was normal. He even remarried subsequently! Intercurrent Urea 200 was also used.
His observations : Nat-mur lacks balance between heart and intellect. Though they seem to be independent they are very dependent on one person.
M.Aleem Chennai presented the intricacies of hepato-biliary diseases.
Dr P Naik illustrated how efficaciously H solved the complications of acute viral hepatitis-The indicated remedies here were Astagus for itching and Dig for severe diarrhoea. Dr.S M SINGH cured a man of cholelithiasis and polycythaemia (hb22mg/RBC 120%). When all remedies failed, Phos was given on the dreams of haemorrhage from all over body.
Lesser number of speakers and better use of available audio/video equipment would have made the seminar more effective and memorable.
