Title: Clinical Observations of children's remedies
Author:
Dr Farokh Master
Publishers: B Jain Publishers (P) Ltd, New Delhi
Pages: 244

This 244 page handbook edited by Dr Farokh J Master contains relevant information about the symptoms that belong to the children's diseases. Sixty-five commonly indicated and most important remedies have been described. The most valuable part of the book is the initial 18 pages containing observations of a child in health and more so during illness and its physical examination.

It is rightly mentioned that healthy mental functioning in childhood are marked by evidence in the child's everyday behaviour. The defective mental functions are also depicted in every day behaviour. This point is beautifully highlighted and is very useful for every physician in making an early diagnosis, which could go a long way in the proper treatment of children.

The drugs are described in anatomical schema. One would really wonder as to how many mental symptoms of a child are present under each drug. Certain symptoms described herein can be seen only in books like Dr Whitmont's or Coultier.

Dr Farokh Master, whose clinical experience is over 20 years has stated that almost all the symptoms given under the drugs have been verified by him. This assertion gives extra confidence to every practitioner and encourages him to use it confidently.

Certain important childhood disorders like Autism, manic depression psychosis, Attention Deficit Disorders can find answers in this book.

This book can therefore be recommended for ready reference in every clinic.
