Case 1
A 28-year-old single female came with a complaint of recurrent URTI since last 4 to 5 years. She had taken allopathic treatment regularly but had only palliative results.
Later she was referred to an ENT surgeon who diagnosed it a case of chronic sinusitis. A course of antibiotic gave her a temporary relief. She was later advised ANTRAL-PUNCTURE for relief of her sinus complaints but she refused.
She came for Homoeopathic treatment for her infected sinuses. Her other complaints were severe bodyache and chest pain associated with PALPITATION, sweating, weakness, difficulty in breathings and giddiness. These complaints mainly followed the death of her grandmother 7 years back, the only relative and support living at that time. Complaints were AGG lying down, worries, tension, AMEL motion, walking about. Patient has marked desires for BITTER things. And aversion to sour things. She is a hot patient, with AGG to SUN, wants open air and can not bear covering.
She had irregular bowel movements, with tendency towards constipation. Profuse +++ perspiration on tip of nose, upper lips, hands, palms and soles. Her periods were regular every 28 to 30 days lasting for 2 to 3 days or sometimes 5 to 6 days. She has H/o 3 spontaneous abortions (being unmarried and a dancer in public bars, having relationship with a married man on a regular basis).
Mentals And Life Situation:
She is unmarried, working in public bar as a dancer, where she keeps on meeting different types of people who come for entertainment. She happened to become close to a married man, who showed keen interest in her and she was carried away by this attention from him. Later she became so close that she started having sexual relations with him. Her other symptoms were as follows:
Violent anger +++, irritability +++, desire to strike others, to bite herself or opposite person, tries to attack with knife, contradiction AGG, impulsive +++, jumps out of a running vehicle, wants to hit herself till she bleeds. She likes to pray and visits temples. She is sympathetic and does not want to hurt anybody. Reserved, bold and abrupt, fear of cockroaches, laughs at serious matters, weeps when alone & AGG consolation.
Dreams: She dreams of a temple in a hilly area, with a pond & beautiful garden surrounding the temple and she goes near it. As she nears the temple, she sees an old woman dressed in a white sari with a red border calling her (this dream can be interpreted as a longing for nurturing, motherly care and affection, which she very much missed in her early childhood).(Ed: also a dream of longing for marriage- Bengalis’s wear such a sair for their wedding)
After taking the rubrics of the case and her peculiar dream, Natrum-mur 1M. 1 dose was prescribed. The follow-up after 1 week: improvement in her chest pain, headaches, and constipation, but mentally she was more or less the same. We waited for a week without any repetition. After 2 weeks when she returned, there was marked improvement in her symptoms and mental state.
Now approximately 3 months after her treatment, she is 80% better in her mental state of mind. Her physical complaints have improved. She has calmed down in her behaviour. Her relationship with the married man still continues as it gives her immense comfort and satisfaction. Her dreams about the temple and the old lady have also completely stopped. Her sinus complaints were cured.
Case 2
A 17-year-old college girl studying in FY BA comes with the chief c/o eruptions behind the ears and the margins of the hairline of the scalp. Itching +++; bleeds when scratched > scratching, > cold water, < winter, < afternoon. Also she c/o cracks on the heels, < winter.
She had earlier been treated with Homoeopathy medicines without much relief. She was diagnosed to be having from Psoriasis.
Past H/o chicken pox 14-year back, jaundice about 12 years back. Family H/o both parents - diabetics.
She has falling of hair since last 6 months. Her appetite is good. Thirst upto 4 to 5 glasses of water everyday. She desires eggs, chocolates and has aversion to meat. Perspiration ++ on uncovered parts with strong odour.
Menstrual cycle delayed by 4 days and lasts for 3 to 4 days. She has leucorrhoea < after menses.
Thermal: Ambithermal.
Mentals & Life space:
She is the elder of two sisters. Had joined a course of computers, which she discontinued within 4 to 5 days of attending, as her teacher was too critical of her coming late for the class. She felt hurt and insulted and from 5th day onwards she stopped going to the classes. No amount of persuasion from her mother could change her mind. Later she wanted to do something else, but could not decide. She loses interest very soon in any undertaking and becomes indifferent to work. She has fear of being alone at night. Anticipatory anxiety during exams, fear of failure, irresolution, confusion of mind, sensitive to reprimands and people's backbiting. Weeps when alone.
Her father is an alcoholic leading to constant fights and quarrels between her parents, due to which there is always a tension in the house. She gets very tense and worried about here future. She hates her father a lot as she feels he does not understand her.
Recently she had become friendly with a guy from her college. When her father came to know of it, he abused and insulted her. As a result, she became quiet, secretive in her relationship and became a closed person. She could not trust anyone, anymore. During this phase in her life, there was a marked aggravation of her psoriatic eruptions. She feels very upset and embarrassed about her complaints. Her relationship with her fiancé is very confusing, as she is unable to decide whether she should go ahead with it or stop it. But she says she cannot forget him and hence keeps on meeting him regularly, even if the guy tries to avoid her. She is very impatient. Always wants to do things in a hurry. hasty speech.
She has fearful & horrible dreams; dreams of her sister and maid’s heads being cut off and one of the head is following her.

Follow Up: on 1/5/99: Skin shows mild >. Mentally feels better by about 80%. Her sleep has improved. Fearful dreams have stopped. Feels more relaxed and confident.
14/5/99 patient on SL Marked improvement in her anxiety state.
Pt. did not turn up for at least a month. On 19/6/99 she developed a mild aggravation in symptoms due to her discontinuation of her treatment. Natrum-mur 1M dose was repeated. Follow up on 26/6/99, complete improvement in her mental state. Her psoriatic rash had completely disappeared with no sign of recurrence. She is still under observation.
Conclusion:
From these two cases it is very clear that the prescription was based on well-selected PQRS mentals & generals which covered the Essence and Core of the case and hence a perfect cure was achieved.
