Dr Mirza Anwar Baig is not an unknown name for readers of NJH, who have, from time to time, been regaled by some difficult cases.
In this informative booklet, Dr Baig's ever-probing mind, now ventures into the how and why of the spread of AIDS
He battles with & answers questions like: -

  1. Are we all at the risk to HIV?
  2. Is it just another chronic disease, which affects only whose immune system is undermined by factors like mental behaviour or abuse of modern medicine or is it only ill-treated, sexually transmitted disease?
  3. Is HIV a cause or an effect?
  4. How can one explain an HIV infection in a non-homosexual, non-drug addict & a non-syphilitic person?
  5. How does one explain one having AIDS but not HIV antigen?
  6. On why AZT is able to palliate AIDS?
The theory he propagates is that AIDS is a psychosomatic disease, and that syphilis continues to play an important role. He also makes a presumption that the violent allopathic approach to serious diseases, like Malaria, Typhoid or TB, give rise to immunosuppression. This activates the viruses to behave like antibodies, fighting our own body. Thus a susceptible soil is prepared which allows or makes it possible for this destructive illness to take root. It is a theory and given to us to ponder over. He substantiates his theory with cases, which uphold the argument that cofactors are more important than the viruses in inducing AIDS.

Also included are:

  1. A disease profile.
  2. An AIDS patient's profile by WHO.
  3. A classification table for AIDS disease control.
  4. Modern medicine therapeutics.
  5. Usefulness of Unani, Ayurveda, Naturopathy and Homoeopathy in the treatment of this dreaded disease.
Any new perspective to the understanding of this killer disease deserves a reading by all practitioners of medicine.
