Title: Text Book of Alternative Medicines
Author:
V Krishnamoorty
Publishers: Not stated (Presumably the author himself)
Edition: 29th Edition
Pages: 71
Price: Rs 50/-

The author has earlier written some books on Homoeopathy and Bach Flower remedies. This is a very small booklet of only 70 pages but the author calls it a text book and the cover states that it is the 29th international edition ( ! ). None of the subjects covered viz. New Bach flower remedies, Chinese accupressure, gemology, pyramid are comprehensively discussed as is expected in a textbook. Several erudite publications are there on each of the subjects dealt with the author and he also does not cover various other alternative therapies. In the section on accupressure the author has only reproduced the first month lesson of the 6 month course conducted by him and it deals with emergencies; the author also makes a tall claim that the method taught by him will give a total and permanent cure by pressing the point only for 3 minutes and for one day only. In the gemology section the author gives details about the powers of 24 gems; he says that there is no need to consult an astrologer or numerologist for selecting the gems. At the same time while discussing the gem Amethyst he says that it is good for those whose number as per numerology is 3 if they suffer from headaches. He calls the pyramid marketed by him as Herbal pyramid and why it is so called has not been explained by him. No details about the sizes of pyramid or the material of which they are prepared are given. Nor is there any theoretical explanation about the pyramid structure and why it has such properties. In many places he has advertised about the herbal powders marketed by him, the courses on Bach flower remedies and accupressure conducted by him and the cost of the individual gems which can be got from him. This book at best is an illustrated catalogue.
