All that Glitters is...Gold...Silver...Platinum
c) Perverted Preceptions of Precious Metals
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 1998 May / Jun VOL VII NO 4.
Complied by T. K Kasiviswanathan

Aurum-met
In this remedy, all the affections, natural to a healthy man are perverted. It is so great that one of the fundamental loves, which is the love of living, of self-protection, is perverted and he loathes life, weary of life, longs to die and seeks methods to commit suicide. It is astonishing that one could get into such a perversion of the affections, such horrible depression of spirits that there is an absolute loss of enjoyment in everything. You take away a man's hope and he has nothing to live for and he wants to die. Such is the state in this remedy (Dr Kent). In this, mental negativity is focused inwards". Self-condemnation, continual self-reproach, self-criticism and a constant looking into self-reproach, self-criticism and a constant looking into self. She does nothing right, everything is wrong, nothing will succeed, hopelessness.' (Kent) "Looks at the dark side, weeps, prays, thinks she is not fit for this world, longs for death, strong inclination to commit suicide; desperate, desires to jump from a height. He imagines that he has lost the affection of his friends; this makes him sad even to tears. Mind constantly turns towards suicide". (Hering). "He is all the time imagining that he has neglected something, that he has neglected his duty ....he has sinned away his days of grace, and is not worthy of salvation". (Kent) "Anguish of mind and great grief. Great anguish increasing unto self-destruction with spasmodic contraction of abdomen'. (Hering) Discontent with his circumstances, blames his fate or himself for it. (Hahnemann). "He has been sound in his business affairs, he has been a good father and he has been observed by those around him to be intelligent but he has silently brooded over his state and then he has been found hanging in his room. The affections cannot be seen but man's intellect is subject to inspection. He finally goes into a state of imbecility, or he becomes wild and commits suicide'. (Kent)

Argentum-nit
"It affects the brain in a very profound manner, bringing about changes and a gradual softening. It singles out mostly the intellectual faculties. It scarcely disturbs his affections. The intellectual part of the man is disturbed increasingly to imbecility. In great sufferings - headaches and pains in the back-it disturbs his memory and reasoning, especially businessmen, students, readers and thinkers". (Kent) All the time as if drunken. Fear of public places and crowd. Fear of buildings and places. (Kent)

As in the metal the affections are disturbed only in a limited way but there is great disturbance in his intellect. He becomes most irrational in his explanations of his actions and methods. He does strange things and comes to strange conclusions. He has all sorts of imaginations, illusions and hallucinations. Especially at night his thoughts torment him to such an extent that he is extremely anxious. When walking gets nervous, he thinks he will have a fit and die suddenly, which makes him walk faster but soon has to stop as he gets tired. Strange ideas and fears crowd his mind. "He wept and assured everyone that he was lost beyond hope for this world; that no one could reason him out of it". (Hering) If he goes past a certain corner of the street he will create a sensation, will go round the block; he avoids that corner for fear that he will do something strange. The sight of hing houses makes him dizzy, he feels as if they would fall on him. When crossing a bridge or high place the thought that he might kill himself or perhaps jump off the bridge into the river, meeting someone prevented it. (Hering) There is fear of death, the over-anxious state that death is near and often at times like Aconite he predicts the moment he is going to die. When about to meet an engagement or taking a rail journey he is full of fear and anxiety till it is over. (Kent) The sight of high houses always made him dizzy and caused him to stagger, it seemed as if houses on both sides would approach and crush him. Thinks he has as incurable disease that he cannot pass a certain place or everything will fail. Delusion that succeed he cannot; does everything wrong. If a time is set becomes uneasy the day before. Fear or apprehension dread when ready to go to church or opera. He is worried and ready long before the time. Does not work, thinking that it will do him harm or that he is not able to stand it. Great melancholy and weakness of mind, melancholy since an undeserved slight; fixed idea that he was neglected and despised by his family. Fear or thinking brings on diarrhoea. He is obstinate and headstrong and has the queerest objection against whatever was proposed.

Palladium
They set great store on other people's opinion and attach great importance to what others think; hence they are very excitable in company and their complaints are worse next day. Delusion appreciated she is not, criticized she is, deserted forsaken is, insulted he is, tall walking had grown while. She is discontented, displeased, dissatisfied with everything. Desires flattery and has fear something horrible will happen. Haughty and wants to be flattered. Takes everything in bad part. Imagines herself neglected and has wounded pried. Disagreeable mood as if she could not bear or brook anything. She tries to appear as amiable as possible, but is obstinate.

Dr Tyler says that palladium is the only remedy running through the following rubrics in Kent's repertory 1.Haughty, 2. Mortification, 3. Ailments from bad news, 4. Delusion that she is neglected, 5. Egotism, 6. Ailments from egotism.

Platina
Dr Kent says that proving of this remedy represents the woman's mind perverted. One of the most striking characteristics is pride and over-estimation of one's self. She imagines that she is of a high born family and that her friends and relatives are of lowly origin and looks down on them. She becomes domineering and dictatorial, arrogant and haughty. She even secretly dislikes her children as too small and too insignificant. The strange thing about this about this is that hallucination extends to the body. She imagines that her body is large while that of others is small in comparison and interior. Irritable over trifles is moody and sulky over slight vexations. Contemptuous of everything and intolerant of contradiction. Fear is a prominent symptom in this remedy. Fear that something bad will happen and that her husband would never return and something bad would happen to him. She has fears of heart disease and that she is to be hanged or being murdered. She has also fear of pins, pointed or sharp things. She has impulses to kill her beloved ones, including her husband.

The perversions are more pronounced in the sexual sphere. Dr Vithoulkas says that due to disturbance of the hormonal system at a young age, the Platina patients develop a strong sexual urge and start masturbating at the young age of 7-9 years. They get involved in sexual relationship at a young age. Though the initial intercourse experience is disappointing they move from one relationship to another. Life for them is sex and they have a lot of ability to indulge in sex a number of times during the day. One notable feature is that they get involved with much older man-a young girl may have relationship with a 50 year old man- because they need security in sex and an older man will not leave a young woman so easily and will withstand all their perversions and excesses in sex. They become perverts in sex. There will come a point when this excessive sexual urge and consequent multiple sexual relationships lead some platina women to disgust, as it becomes emotionally painful. Then their intellect will control their passion and will result in expansion of their ego and consequent megalomania.

The platinum patient, Dr Tyler says, may be skating on very thin ice of sanity. She recalls several borderline cases cured by platinum. She cites one case where sensations of local physical enlargement had created suspicions of poisoning against her husband and a woman friend, an inmate of their house. She was cured with platina and remained well for several years thereafter.
