'Aurum-met / Arg-nit
GOLD, a yellow metal falls under the Mineral Group of remedies. Its main action is on the organs of emotion [eg heart] and reproduction[ eg uterus, ovary, breast, testis]. It has profound mental depression, melancholy and even suicidal tendency [like Nat-sulph, Psor, Staph]. The mental depression develops after
- Emotional shock from grief [like Ign,Nat-m, Ph-ac]
- Fright [like Aco, Ign, Nat-m]
- Anger [like Ign, Plat, Staph]
- Dejection in love [like Ign, Nat-m, Hyos]
- Contradiction [like Ign, Cham, Anac] and
- Reserved displeasure [like Staph].
- The metal gold is soft, malleable, ductile and breakable. Using the doctrine of signatures it can be said that it is emotionally malleable. It stretches its emotion uncontrollably to the point of no return. It sees no ray of hope in life. So, it breaks down and sinks into deep depression.
- It has alternate mental states like Ign, and Plat.
- It is an upright, honest, fair, conscientious, hardworking, efficient and responsible subject like Kali-carb.
- It has greater affinity to muscular and bony tissues. It has palpitation, chest pain and suffocation e.g. angina and ulceration and neoplasm (benign or malignant) in the sex organs.
- It is a chilly remedy and has < from sunset to sunrise [like Syph]. I observed the efficacy of Aur-met in a case of Parkinsons, in a 45 year old woman after the demise of her husband. She had acute mental depression, a feeling of unbearable loss, helplessness, hopelessness and worthlessness about future. She had frequent tears in eyes while describing her life situations. Aur-met 200 in three doses brought in a substantial improvement in her physical and mental states. The follow up continues.
- Other Aurum compounds like Aur-mur and Aur-mur-natro have warts on genitals and tongue, tumours in uterus and breasts, and carcinoma of uterus, breasts and ovaries. The Aurums have syco- syphilitic miasm.
- It has profound apprehension like Gels, Lyco, fear, fright, hurriedness impulsiveness and sudden anger.
- It has greater affinity to the tissues of nervous system, mucous membrane, cartilage and glands, especially pancreas and thyroid. I effectively treated cases of hypothyroidism in three middle-aged women with Arg-nit. The subjects were overweighed and had swelling of face, hands, and legs, with other parts of the entire body affected. They had anxiety, apprehension, restlessness, and fear with hot flushes, heartburn, gas formation, eructation, epigastric tenderness and desire for sweets and salt in one case. The white metal develops cachexia when assimilation of nutrients comes to near standstill, because of severe ulceration of malignancies in parts of gastrointestinal tract. I observed the efficacy of Arg-nit in a confirmed, late stage, esophageal malignancy in a middle aged woman where swallowing of food, solid or liquid was almost impossible. The liquid used to be regurgitated from the middle of the esophagus. There was pain in the lower part of the oesophagus, with a feeling of something lodged in the throat. She was not given radiotherapy or chemotherapy because of terminal stage of malignancy. The patient had severe cachexia. On Arg-nit 30 c and then 200 c she recovered to such an extent that she lived more than six months without much suffering. It seems to have an affinity to spasm, inflammation and constriction of the oesophagus.
- I found it very effective for nervousness, apprehension, anxiety and fear in children just before their examination, more useful than any other remedy.
- It is a warm remedy. It craves sweets, especially sugar, and salt. It has aggravation from sweets eg in diabetes, warmth and morning on waking and night. I observed its effectiveness in 200c in an acute gonorrheal flare up like Medorrhinum in a man in early thirties where there was profuse, thick, white milk like discharge with burning and pain in the penis along with its Mentals like anticipatory anxiety, apprehension and hurriedness and other physical symptoms. Hot feeling, flatulence and desire for sweets and salt. The Argentums have also syco-syphilitic miasm,
