NAH Summer School VII-A Report

The VII Summer School [residential training camp] for receptive and keen students of Homoeopathy was conducted by The National Academy of Homoeopathy, India at Dr J N Kanjilal Memorial Hall, Nagpur from 24th May '98 to 7th June '98. The emphasis was on doctrines of Hahnemannian Homoeopathy with its practical application, taught in a simple way under the able guidance of Dr Kasim Chimthanawala.

The participants were divided into six groups student leader

  1. Dr Bose group: Dr Sangang Joshi [leader]
  2. Dr Dubey group: Dr Sonal [L]
  3. Dr Ghoshal group: Dr Kushal Parakh [L]
  4. Dr Kanjilal group Dr Oliver Noronha [L]
  5. Dr Paul Group : Dr Prakash [L]
  6. Dr Mahendra Singh: Dr Rakhi Patil [L]
Groups were allotted cases for analysis and evaluation, selection of remedy with auxiliary management. Each case was then taken up, corrections done, resulting in simultaneous teaching.

Topics And Schedule Of The 15 Days
1] Every morning yoga and relaxation: how to keep harmony between CNS, ANS And Endocrine systems.

2] Importance of nosodes
a] In relation to tendencies and diathesis. Suitable examples served as explanation. b] Nosodes on background of miasmatic history. ILLUSTRATION: The obsessiveness of 'Syphilinum' patient constantly washing hands even while touching something. 'Carcinosin' the importance of diathesis and family history.

3] Miasms and their importance
a] How miasms evolved and need for an anti-miasmatic line of treatment. How Hahnemann explained importance of miasms in "Theory of chronic diseases" was made easy for us.
D] Importance of psora [an itch mite] and other miasms regarding genetic transmission and vertical transmission.
E] How dominant miasm in mother during pregnancy was incorporated in foetus.

4] The language of repertory was explained mainly through Kent's repertory along with usage of other repertories.

5] Specialists taught various clinical subjects with interesting slides of these cases.

6] "How to read ECG"? was thoroughly explained by Dr Adil Chimthanawala.

7] Assessment of cure in individuals and Hom outlook of skin diseases.

8] Dr Sanjay Tambe demonstrated drug picture of Phos and Natrum-mur with help of slides of Diana Hayden and Hindi songs.

B] Doctrine of signature of Phos
The glowing of Phos metal was correlated with glowing and bright personality of Phos patient.

Generally, Phos metal is kept under water or kerosene due to its inflammable nature in open air, similarly Phos patient requires cold things and craves ice-cream due to its internal burning.
iii] Haemorrhage diathesis was explained on basis of degenerative changes of blood vessels.
iv] Action of Phos on bones and nervous system was explained.

Dr Tasneem, Dr Mehboob Chimthanawala, Dr Sagira Chimthanawala, Dr Adil Chimthanawala and others made this entire programme a grand success by helping out students in each and every way.
In these 15 days it exposed us to vast literature of our stalwarts in Dr Bose's library at Shaad Hospital, Nagpur.

At the culmination results were:

Dr Vaibhav Mhamane [Satara]- Third

We left a wiser and inspired lot. An illustrative case discussed at the School.
Mrs. BB 35 yrs old female came with following complaints
a] Stiffness and swelling of neck since 8-9 yrs < Cold season, eating bananas, on side laid on > by light exercise
b] Anxiety, palpitations in chest region < physical exertion, when strangers are to visit.
c] Mind: cannot express on contradiction on small matters by others. Unable to tell her feelings. Broods over small matters and gets headache. She thinks as if "I am totally sleepless" continuous thoughts in mind.
d] Menarche 11-12 yrs of age Leucorrhoea discharge since then < 8 days before menses. e] Easy satiety for food
Frozen shoulder [R] side but with x-ray WNL

Rubrics taken:
KR 10 Brooding
KR 78 Sensitive
KR 1254 Sleeplessness, thoughts continued activity of mind.
KR 722 Leucorrhoea, menses before
KR 874 Palpitations in chest after anxiety


The lady was prescribed Nat-mur 200 1 dose and she improved dramatically. This case was taken on the first day of our course. We followed it up for the 15 days that we were there.
