She praised the hard work put into the publication of both volumes of Materia Medica. Dr Pachegaonkar recalled his college days where only symptoms were memorised but no drug was understood. He put his observation that each remedy in a Select Homoeopathic Materia Medica clarifies the image in a better way and its format acts aas a ready reckoner. He wished long life to dr Tarkas and especially complimented Dr Ajit Kulkarni for continuing Dr Tarkas's work.
Dr Bhasme said these two volumes are highly valuable and they deserve recommended as Text books in all colleges. The Homeopathic seminar began with Dr Vishpala Parthasarathy's superb lecture on Case Taking and presented 6 cases in depth. She outlined various features of case taking. A methodical approach to a case in terms of elicitaiton, documentaion, analysis and synthesis was presented nicely with well-prepared slides which gave a different perspective to know the action of Homeopathic treatmetn. after lunch, Dr Ajit Kulkarni gave a talk on "The study of Materia Medica." He showed how "A select Homoeopathic Materia Medica" is constructed and how it fills the void int erms of co-ordinating old and new literature of Materia Medica. He presented the drug Bryonia to appraise the delegates the nature of work done in Materia Medica.
Dr Arya's deliberation on "The Study of Repertory" was an eye-opener to those who do not use the Repertory in their practice. He presented 4 cases and showed how the repertory helped in fishing out the remedy.
The last session was a panel discussion over "Homoepathy and Modern Medicine" Dr Pachegaonkar was the co-ordinator , Dr Mistry, a Surgeon and Homoeopath was the chief guest. 5 Homoeopaths and 3 Allopaths were on the dias and they exchanged various ideas about both faculties. Dr Parthsarathy's excellent exposition of "Interpretation of Homeopathy in light of Modern Medicine" gave a balanced overview of both faculties and what a Homoeopath should do to make his science more pragmatic.
The objective of perceiving various dimensions of Homeopathy was thus superbly achieved. The Seminar was attended by 250 deldgates; who went away satiated both mentally and physically.
Editor :
Even the disconnection of electricity did not dampen their enthusiasm of delegates and they wanted another 2 hour extra for the audio-visual of "Interpretation of Homoepathy and Modern Medicine" talk. I have rarely seen such an enthusiastic audience.
