Premenstrual Syndrome

Premenstrual Syndrome [PMS] or better known as Premenstrual Tension syndrome [PTS] can be described as the syndrome that occurs in females seven to several days before the menses start. According to Webster's medical dictionary the syndrome is characterised by one or more symptoms out of irritability, emotional tension, depression, headache, mood changes, tenderness of breasts with or without swelling and water retention, may be sufficient enough to cause Oedema. The syndrome subsides as soon as the menses start. The cause of PMS is not yet well known but it is understood to have some alterations related to the effects of Oestrogen and Progestrone hormones during the menstrual cycle.
The above symptoms described by various authors of repute are sufficient to diagnose the pateint suffering from PMS but practically, in our clinics, we met with various other symptoms that occur in the lady - patients every month, a few days before the onset of the menses. Thesee symptoms are not just vague symptoms which could be ignored easily. I have done throught the Kent's Materia Medica of Homoeopathic Medicines[lectures] and the most valued work by the great Dr Kent, ie, Kent's repertory to Homoeopathic M.M., he has described about 312 symtpoms that occur prior to the onset of menstration covering from MIND to end in the GENERALITIES . These symptoms are often found in the petinets and they are of much help being the CONCOMITANT to menstruation. A thorough list of all these symtoms compiled out of Dr Kent's Repertory is given below:
