Letters to the Editor
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 1997 Jul / Aug VOL 5 NO 4.
I am a regular reader of the National Journal of Homoeopathy. The section "Queries and Solutions" is very educative and soul stirring. It gives us the vision to discriminate between True and False as well as Rational and Irrational. It plays a great role in giving a clear image of true Hahnemannian Homoeopathy.
"A case of Suppression" presented by Dr A K Dasmahapatra emphasizes the role of skin in the process of elimination. This is also strongly advocated by Dr Kasim
Chimthanawala in 'Queries and Solutions' section of NJH. "The skin is a mirror of sick economy", he says. Again "skin acts as a safety valve" emphasisis the same. Similarly, sentences in the case like "Skin is the outermost part of our body which acts as a ventilator" "Any skin lesion by the disease process is a blessing, not a curse" "Severe itching indicates excess of toxins in the skin" also stress the role of skin in exteriorisation of the disease.
The articles by Dr Manu Kothari and Dr Lopa Mehta are very ethical. They are not advocating medicines, but surely guide how to proceed towards the Rational practice of Medicine. The articles admonish how to preserve Health and lay more stress upon the complete Health of the human beings and mode of life essential for health.
I would request you to include a "students' section" in the NJH and some advertisements from Calcutta related to Homoeopathic fraternity.
Ms Sumita Batra Sangli
Editor replies: For some time now we have been contemplating starting a students section, but are not very sure on what that section should include. Also do students have time / inclination to read journals?. We'll be pleased to include advertisements from Calcutta related to Homoeopathic fraternity, if you help us get them?
Now to change the track: In the Magnesium issue, we had raised the issue of Institutionally qualified and non-qualified Homoeopaths. We invited opinions on this. To initiatie this discussion, let us start with basics. Today I, as an individual, can develop an interest in anything- from computers to MBA, to accounts, to making soft toys. I can find some course somewhere which will make me proficient and allow me to practice the same -either as a profession or as a hobby. In many offices I have seen peons, with SSC qualifications picking up knowledge of operating computers and become Computer Analysts with experience.
So too is the case with Homoeopathy. Homoeopathy being so logical and understandable attracts many to it. Abiding interest, a deep study and devotion to the subject mark the hallmark of a good Homoeopath, according to my thinking
But since the question of non-institutionally trained Homoeopaths was raised by some IIHP delegates, we decides to throw open the discusion. Letters on the subject have come which have been presented in the Open Forum. We, also, did some research and we put our thoughts and conclusions in the section OPEN FORUM.
