Two cases, both middle aged men in their early 40s both married women of their choices from outside their communities, both very well educated and able to speak at length on any subject.
Both had an affected manner of speech and were never spontaneous. Both were articulate and could even be loquacious if allowed to, much to the agony of patients waiting outside. Their speech had a touch of sarcasm. Both were very critical of their work environments and were always on the look out for more lucrative jobs. Both took great pride in recounting how they came workaholics and never missed a days work due to any minor ailment.
Dressing impeccably well and maintaining a good visage was almost an obsession with them. It was strange but they both dyed their hair ! They were very particular about their food, gourmets not gourmands. Both enjoyed an air conditioner and cool climate. With all the internal feeling of heat both never missed out on exercise and walking and that too at a fast pace. One even parked his car far away in order to walk to his destination. Being extremely duty conscious they did a lot for their respective families since their childhood.
Lycopodium provided temporary relief for the first one even though flatulence < farinaceous food ( but only selective), low back pain, intelligent, friendly, articulate, sarcastic, hot patient with periodical headaches ,particular about looks and critical of environment were present.
The other was given Nux-vomica for the repeated headaches > vomiting, occassional constipation, mild acidity and the workaholic attitude. His throat was sensitive to atmospheric pollution. But It too gave only temporary relief.
On pondering over the case, that extra touch of over confidence and that constant refrain of how they were always fine when travelling abroad made me think of Sulphur and Platina. But the numbness with pain, physical symptoms alternating with missing. Sulphur was ruled out as there was no streak of indolence , no over-indulgence in alcohol/ sweets/ foods, no redness/ itching of skin, no philosophical streak and above all both were very well dressed.
Whenever they were enquired about their families, they were always referred to as " that old lady". Both felt that they were better looking than their wives and that they were able to attract younger women even now. this casual remark repeatedly about their wives made me alert. Their attitude were surprising considering that they had love marriages. They were also indifferent to their teenage children !!.
Now the remedy was quite clear. Acid-flour IM, a single dose was given. There was no improvement noticeable after even one month. But I waited. In one case some old suppressed eruptions on face (painless) surfaced and responded very well to occassional doses of Lyco 30 ! His severe and constant low back pain completely vanished and has never returned to date. In the other case one dose of Nux-vomica Im has been working marvelously for the past 8 months!.
Both have shed their over confidence and sarcasm about their wives and children, In fact the first one had started evincing interest in his wife and children again. His eruptions have vanished and has recommended several friends and relatives to Homoeopathy ! The other is also happy and does not grumble about the weather now and has installed an air conditioner everywhere bedroom, car (the office has already one).
Did Acid-flour act as a miasmatic block remover ? Only one dose was given and the same Lyco and Nux-vom which never acted previously in depth now worked the magic of the minimum dose !.
