NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 1996 Jul / Aug Vol V No 4.
Vishpala Parthasarathy.
Readers choice.

I attended the NJHs One day seminar at Ambassador Ajanta Hotel, at Aurangabad. I likes Dr Vishpala Parthasarathys lecture on the Approach to Case Taking and different cases, the lecture of Dr Kasim Chimthanawala, Dr Rashmi Nagar, and Dr Asrani. Please arrange such seminars regularly to that students will get impressed and practice Homoeopathy.

Dr N M DHAWLE . Sanjay Nagar, Aurangabad .

In the Epilepsy issue (Vol V, No 2, March-April 1996) NJH has been purposefully moving towards excellence. There is much to praise, undoubtedly, but healthy criticism helps to arouse reflectiveness and promote improvement.

Referring to page 83-84, a single dose of Nat-mur 200 helps to throw out multiple bouts for several months and cure a case of grand mal epilepsy in wonderful. The prescription pattern, however, has three distinct stages. First of all, after repertorization from Kents repertory, Nux-vom and Nat-mur were selected and administered in rising potencies at infrequent intervals for a year but with no relief. At the second stage, considering the Causation i.e. Homesickness and Desire for juicy things--Phos-ac was prescribed, which helped in two ways, one by initiating improvement, and two by throwing out a more clear picture of Nat-mur. The third stage belongs only to Nat-mur which cured.

Reflections on the three stages: In the first stage, Nat-mur did not act over a whole year! Nux-vom is very chilly, Nat-mur is quite warm. Nobody would go to a barking Nux-vom though anyone would seek sober Nat-murs advice. But more importantly, listed as an antidote, did Nux-vom nullify the Nat-mur action? A lesson derived from the Phos-ac prescription in the second stage, seems to be that of a partial simillimum, it paved the way for the emergence of an unmistakable Nat-mur image, This time Nat-mur was prescribed alone and could not be defiled by Nux-voms disruptive action albeit in the third stage. Referring to page 95 of ibid, the first case of epilepsy was cured by Lyss, second by Zinc-m. In the third case, Cicuta supplemented by Oena mother tincture, why? and why not in the earlier two cases? This is a learners question.

It would be unfair to Dr Sameer Upadhya (page 102-103, ibid) not to appreciate wholeheartedly his prescription of Lactic-acid in Case 2, more so because Lactic-ac is hardly reported in cases that I can recall.

Dr Anuradha (pp 105-106) does not seem to appreciate the role of Bufo in asthma vis-a-vis Kali-c, Arsen, Carbo-veg, It was good that Artem-vulg was selected by her. About this drug, one would benefit by consulting Dr Sarabhai Kapadias Homoeopathic Reminiscences .

Some therapeutic pointers with cases, (pp 76-79) is an excellent collection of some masters prescriptions. So is Dr P Vijaykars A case of suppression (pp 88-91) as also a good deal of repertorial selection by others.

Sometimes I wonder if Hot / Cold thermal modalities can be ignored even when they are very marked, as has been done in prescribing Tarent-hisp to a Hot (3 +) patient (page 92).

I have only received first issue Hypertension, Jan-Feb 1996 end of June 1996. You had written sorry for the delay but now even further issues are too much delayed.

(EDITOR--We have now caught up well--4 issues in 5 months (June to Oct) By 1996 end, we will hopefully bury the delay.).

To satisfy my hunger for knowledge in Homoeopathy I started to subscribe for the NJH. I find this journal very interesting. It helps me in my studies, which I share with my colleagues and my professors too especially the Asthma issue of 1995. Thank you for publishing my letter to Dr Chimthanawala. This has helped to boost my confidence. I would like to suggest that you include a section for students on the Organon, use of Repertory and on easily comprehensible materia medica, so that a novice can benefit. In Gujarat, time is changing fast in favor of Homoeopathy. To bring about new revolution in Homoeopathy your journal would definitely help.

Dr Farookh Master in a recent lecture in my college brought out a valid point to prove unproven small remedies and improve the remedy relationship of Gibson Miller and repertory for Indian foods.
