Introduction: For this issue, I have selected a variety of cases of different ages and different strata of society to show that good results are not restricted.
CASE 1:
Master Ajay, aged 8. His parents came from a "Vagari" family i.e., the nomads who sell clothes on the streets. Shabbily dressed, unwashed yet his father had this strange craving for a Cross pen. I promised him one but unfortunately he died before I could give him. (I had felt a strange pleasure in giving a cross-pen to one who barely had food to eat and yet had expensive tastes - cross - pen and an expensive Homoeopath!). This was his second wife. He had 2 brothers and 2 daughters aged 4 and 6 yrs. old.
Coming to the patient - he came with Alopecia patches on the head vertex since a year. He had been given injection on scalp but without success.
His other complaints were burning urination, otorrhoea, carries, scorbutic gums and salivation. Enuresis weekly. Milestones delayed. He was also underweight, thin 44" and 15 kg. The patient is bold. When very angry he weeps. Studies well: Hot with sweats on head. Craves sweets (3+).
Treatment and Follow-up:
12-11-93 - Treatment began with Sulphur 1M one dose and Bar-m 30, every night.
19-11-93 - No enuresis.
11-12-93 - New hair growth + App. better. By January 92 he needed to have a hair cut.
Potency of Bar-mur was increased, whenever improvement stalked. He was well from 1994,
October when he developed 3 spots of Alopecia. Again Bar-mur 1M with Syphilinum 1M helped
stop the falling hair, baldness with syphilitic Merc-sol for his cough with salivation.

CASE 4: PLAY MECHANO
This case is a very exciting one for me as the patient was treated 25 years ago by the renowned Dr. Phatak to whom the patient had gone for eczema, Asthma and ulcer. Dr. Phatak told him "I can cure you of Asthma and ulcer but not eczema. You should leave the eczema alone". He then proceeded to do just that and till date the patient has had no asthma not ulcer. (I only wish I knew what the patient was given). However his eczema became gradually worse. Today it is bad, all over, but no oozing and the patient has learnt to cope with it. Now he came to me mainly for severe acidity. After ascertaining the above history, I told him that "You have learned somehow to live with your skin problem which is covering your whole body. I will give you minimal and mild medicine and will definitely cure your acidity. It is likely that with that medicine your skin may also improve, but I will not do any aggressive treatment".
He agreed to be treated on that basis and got complete relief in acidity in two days.
He came back after one week saying that "if I myself had not had this experience I would not have believed it possible to get relief so quickly.
History:
The patient, Mr. JP, aged 67 years, is the second son in a family of three brothers. The eldest brother was dominating and hence the patient developed an inferiority complex which persisted till his marriage. Then he somehow changed and took responsibility for the family. He was very hardworking and always busy; and became head of the family. Though the other two brothers were not putting in that much effort the patient did not mind. Now the 3 brothers and three sons are all in business though only 2 live together. With a new office and new house interior done at high cost. He worries too much about money matters and feels that they can lead a simpler life. 1995 has seen too much expenditure. Now at 68, he retired 3 months ago his excessive worries almost money led to his acidity.
His acidity is accompanied with bloating of the abdomen which is aggravated by chillies and tea and by dinner. He gets relief by eructation and reading at night time.
He had spondylitic pain with swelling every morning which is better by exercise.
He is short, heavy built, with poor appetite; like onions (3), salts (3), sour (3),
sweets.
Likes open air, slow fan, no AC, warm bath.
Previous History:
In 1992, he had Hodgkins for which he had radiation and chemotherapy.
Treatment and follow-up:
It was a clear case of Lycopodium.
19-12-95 Lyco 30 one dose was given. I advised him to take it easy and enjoy the fruits of three decades of hard work. What were your hobbies? I asked him. He replied -" When I was 20, I used to love wood-inlay work and toy trains"! "Just the right play for your grandchildren aged 3 to 4, So play with them and became their friendly Dada. He did. By next day he had no acidity and his skin condition was 30 percent better.
The acidity has not returned till today i.e. 6-1-95 when this article is going to the press.
Because of the appreciable improvement in his complaints, I have decided not to repeat the medicine but wait and watch to see how much further he improves.
CASE 5: AN UNUSUAL PRESCRIPTION
A little boy, 7 years old, suddenly developed a wart on the right hand index finger in July 1995; this had slowly increased to about one fourth of an inch when he was brought in for consultation on 14 November 1995.
His only other complaint was his tendency to catch cold with every change of weather; he has colds every month which lasts for 6 days.
Physical Characteristics: He was lean, weighed 26 Kg and was 4 feet and two inches tall. He craves chicken, fish, cold things and ice creams.
Mentals: Very talkative and loving with a forgiving nature, apologizes soon; Loves company and has a happy-go-lucky disposition. Has fear of dark with a wild imagination. Sleep is good but has both frightful and pleasant dreams, is very sympathetic.
Rubrics Selected:
- KR 63 - Talkative (Loquacity

Treatment and Follow-up:
It was a clear case of Phos but in all the rubrics relating to wart (chief complaint) it hardly appears.
14-11-95 - Phos 200 - One dose was given.
23-11-95 - Slight improvement - The wart is smaller
12-12-95 - Having cold since 1 week - Phos 2 doses.
26-12-95 - Wart was drying fast (A photo of the hand was taken but it did not come out
well).
9-1-95 - A pleasant surprise. The boys mother was astonished and in a shocked voice said
that the wart in her sons hand was gone.
This case once again proves that any Homoeopathic medicine which covers the totality of symptoms of the patient will cure pathological manifestations even though it may not figure against that pathological symptom in the Repertory. It is because the drug proving has not been pushed to the full extent of developing pathological symptoms in provers.
