Influence of Homoeopathic - Bach Flower Medicines on Yield of Soyabean
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 1995 Mar / Apr Vol IV No 2.
Dubey D D.

INTRODUCTION:

The field experiment was conducted to see the effect of application of homoeopathic and Bach Flower medicines on soyabean (Glycine max L) crop. The main objective was to evaluate the influence of these medicines on the seed yield.

MATERIALS AND METHODS:

The medicines used along with their potencies and the idea behind their use is given below -

Note: The Bach Flower medicines Nos 5 and 6 were mixed in equal proportions before use.

All medicines were used in liquid form. The Homoeopathic and Bach Flower medicines were procured from a local chemist. Ten drops of the liquid medicine was added to one litre water and used as foliar spray. The experiment was conducted in randomized block design and replicated four times. The plot size was 5.4 x 3 m which accommodated 12 rows of the soyabean crop spaced at 45 cm apart. Diammonium phosphate fertilizer @ 100 kg-ha. (To supply 18 kg N-ha and 46 kg p205 - ha) was applied as basal dose before sowing. Rhizobium culture treated (10g-kg seed) soyabean seeds (variety JS-335) were sown after first monsoon showers on 6-7-1992. The crop received foliar spray of the Homoeopathic and Bach Flower remedies at 10 days after emergence, one month after sowing and at the time of flowering. The crop was harvested on 22-10-1992.

SN Medicines Potency Idea for their use

Treatments

  1. Cina 6 As a safeguard against insect attack (insecticide)
  2. Crataegus-ox Q To stimulate the circulatory system of plants
  3. Silicea 6 To provide vitality and strength
  4. Vinca-minor 6 As a safeguard against fungusattack (Pesticide)
  5. Agrimony + - To console against the Crab Apple environmental torture
  6. Hornbeam + Olive - For physical strength and overcome fatigue
  7. Rescue Remedy - As rescue against any physiological, Nutritional and environmental problems
  8. Control - No medicine for comparing the treatments.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:

The yield data were recorded and statistically analyzed as per standard procedure. The yield data are presented below:

Due to drought condition (Rainfall 730 mm) the yields in general were low compared to other normal years. The data indicate that all medicines gave higher yield as compared to the control. Among Homoeo medicines Vinca minor gave the maximum and highly significant yield followed by Crataegus-ox and Cina. The treatment with Silicea 6 could not influence the yield significantly.

  7. Rescue remedy 710
  8. Control (no medicine) 556

Among the Bach Flower medicines, the maximum yield was recorded when a mixture of Hornbeam and Olive was used as foliar spray. The Rescue remedy was the next highest performer. The treatment with Agrimony and Crab apple could not boost the yield as compared to the other two Bach Flower medicines.

CONCLUSION

An increase in yield was definitely noted. But for final conclusion and publication, a greater study with different medicines, other crops at various stages of growth and also as safeguard against pests & diseases needs to be established. But a new field has definitely opened up for Homoeopathy.
