Male Menopause - No Myth
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 1994 Nov / Dec Vol III No 6.
Asrani C H.

The term menopause usually signifies the female suffering. It is true that females do suffer much more than the male counterpart but male menopause definitely deserves more attention than is being given today.

Male menopause is not given much importance for the following reasons:

  1. The transition is not so sudden and there is no outward manifestation like cessation of menstruation as in females.
  2. With advancing age physiologic changes of aging occurs and with a little care they are either cured, controlled or do not pose a major problem.
  3. Only noticeable feature is reduction in libido and sexual performance which again is very gradual and mostly acceptable to all men and more important is that nobody mentions it.

All the same males do undergo through menopause and the changes are

Increase in fat disposition

Irritability

A desire to do something big

Osteoporosis (much less than in females)

the change of male menopause are not easily differentiated from changes in aging. A proper care towards diet, nutrition and control of already occurring disease like hypertension, and diabetes may help males never realize that they have entered menopause.
