On Aug 27th and 28th 1994 the Maharashtra State Homoeopathic Scientific Seminar was organised by the Poona and Beed HMAI units at Beed and hosted by Sonajirao Kshirsagar Homoeopathic Medical College, Beed.

The Dignitaries present were - the founder of SKH Medical College, Smt. Kesharbai Kshirsagar (Kaku) popular MP from Beed. Dr. B.V. Dhakulkar, the National President of HMAI, Dr. G.N. Mukherjee, Secretary General of HMAI and Shri Jayadatta Kshirsagar (Anna), MLA. The Secretary of Adarsha Shikshan Sanstha, Dr. B.D. Kale presided over the function.

The Secretary of the organizing committee, who is also the Principal of SKH Medical College, Dr. Arun Bhasme and Dr. Prahlad Wadgaonker, the chairman of Organising committee and Vice-principal, explained that the object of the event was to celebrate the evolution of the college from Diploma to the Post graduate level in the span of 20 years.

The SKH Medical College is the first institute in Maharashtra permitted to conduct Post-graduate course in Homoeopathy.

The subject selected for the seminar were as follows:-

  1. Action of Homoeopathic Medicine in Human body.
  2. Standardization of Homoeopathy.
  3. Need of Repertory in Homoeopathic Practice
  4. Homoeopathy in Surgical Diseases
  5. Experiences in Practice of Homoeopathy in Rural and Urban area.
  6. Role of Homoeopathy in state and National Health Services.

In the first Scientific session, Dr. Sunil Parse (Nagpur) presented his paper on the action of Homoeopathic Medicine in the human body. For the second topic on standardization in homoeopathy, the participants concluded that standardization is the need of the hour and much has been done but more remains to be done.

The second Scientific session was a slide presentation by Dr. Prahlad Wadgaonker on cases of Cancer of Oesophagus, non-healing diabetic ulcers and gangrene treated with homoeopathy. Dr. Mohan Gune and Dr. Juben Moim from Kolhapur gave statistical reports about successful use of Boenninghausens and other repertories. Dr. G.N. Mukherji, (Principal, Durgapur) presented a paper on repertorisation, which was well received.

In the third scientific session Dr. Sandeep Sathe (Pune) presented his research on Homoeopathic treatment for Spring Catarrh. he expanded on specialization in Homoeopathy. Dr. Kabra (Parli) presented some cases successfully treated with homoeopathy in rural areas which requires special aptitude.

In the last session Dr. B.V. Dhakulkar (Nagpur) talked about the role of Homoeopathy in National Health Services. He talked about Homoeopathy can be successful in preventive field, epidemic diseases, AIDS and family planning. He urged Homoeopaths to work sincerely and scientifically and make Homoeopathy populars. That the Government voluntarily introduces it in Government hospitals.

A Homoeo Quiz competition was also held. Teams from Beed, Alibag and Parbani College took part. Beed college was the winner and Alibag College the runners up. A variety of entertainment program was also organized.

All in all it was a well organized and well attended seminar.
