The National Academy of Homoeopathy, India celebrated the tenth anniversary of its Shaad Hospital Complex and Research Centre on Sunday, the 30th of January at the JNK Memorial Hall. Dr. D. B. Rajimwale the Dean of Raipur Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital was the Chief Guest. The President of the Academy, Dr. Kasim Chimthanawala presided over the function.
The celebration was inaugurated by lightning of the traditional lamp by the chief guest. Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Kanjilal, the living Hahnemann and the sole inspirational force behind the activities undertaken during 1993 was presented by the Medical Superintendent, Dr. (Mrs.) Sagira Chimthanawala. Dr. Rajimwale in his inaugural speech congratulated Dr. Kasim and his team for their dedication and the missionary spirit for the cause of the science. He specifically mentioned the research projects on allergies and the rectification of Dr. Kents repertory, which are not only unique but contribute towards the upliftment of the science. He assured all help from his side. Dr. Kasim proposed the vote of thanks. After lunch an educative seminar was conducted on Drug Diseases and their Prevention. Dr. Rajimwale presided. Dr. Kothey and Dr. Kasim Chimthanawala presented their papers. Both the speakers emphasized the rational use of powerful and synthetic drugs so as to avoid their dangerous side effects. In Homoeopathy there are a number of drugs which can antidote such effects provided they are administered in appropriate doses. Dr. Kasim mentioned about Tautopathic drugs, antidotes, the bad effects of steroids, antibiotics, etc.
It was followed by another session on Psychosomatic Disorders and their Management. Renowned psychiatrist of the city Dr. Sudhir Bhave and Dr. Rajimwale deliberated while Dr. Kasim presided. Dr. Bhave said that in recent times psychosomatic disorders are increasing at an alarming speed. He said that a majority of the disorders of recent times have their causes in the mind either in the form of worry, fear or anxiety all accounting to produce tension. It is this tension which is released through the body in the form of diseases. He said that peptic ulcer, hypertension, diabetes etc. belong to this category. Dr. Rajimwale presented ten cases of chronic diseases successfully treated by Homoeopathy having the cause in the mind. Dr. Kasim in his concluding address contended that disorders are the load releasers. It is through these, that the mind attempts to reduce its tension and prevent insanity. He also spoke on the role of defence systems in the manifestation of such symptoms. Dr. Tambe conducted the sessions and Dr. Mehboob proposed the vote of thanks.
Other highlights of the celebration were the holding of a Homoeopathic Quiz Contest and a One Minute Contest. The Nagpur Homoeopathic College team won the quiz while Ms Smita Mahurkar from Raipur College won the One Minute Contest.
