The Son caused it

Cases.
` Op.

A 35 years old woman came with gastric problems for which I gave a snapshot prescription due to lack of time. On her subsequent visit she showed no signs of improvement. An impending question why did she bring along her 6 years old son when he was supposed to be at school showed the path to cure.

On enquiry she told me that this boy who scored almost 100 percent in the class had started losing rank and in a few days had come down to the lowest. His father was annoyed and accused his wife for not paying attention to the boys studies. Since this episode she started getting discomfort and burning in the epigastric region. This was thus purely a psychosomatic case.

I also got to know the boys problem. He was accused and punished by the teacher unjustly, instead of his friend, who had been mischievous. The same day he had fever for which he was given some allopathic drug. He now feared school, perhaps his teacher. He started losing interest in studies. All this happened so rapidly and he was asked to discontinue school. I now wondered who needed medicine, mother or the son? Since the mothers problem was psychosomatic, I felt that the boy needed treatment.

Rubrics:

  1. Fear long lasting (Phatak 128)
  2. Disease originating from fright (Boericke 486)
  3. Fright complaints from (KR 49) Opium 1M was given to the boy and SL to the mother.

A rapid progress of both the mother and the child was elicited. Peace was established in the house in a weeks time. She came to inform me the progress of the boy who joined school and has done well thereafter.

Inference: Never hurry with the name of the disease. For a complete and permanent cure one must go deep into the problem.
