XI. Tyler on Nosodes: Margaret Tyler says - "My recent experience is that the Nosodes of past acute diseases are tremendously useful in various conditions that constitute Old Chronics. This has made one meditate and discuss their possible use in the treatment of Cancer". (Hom Heritage - Jan 1992).
Dr. T.K. More (Hom Heritage Jan 1992) adds - The talented Margaret Tyler came to make great play with the Nosodes. Recently two cases of acute antrum infection were rapidly cured by a few doses of Streptococcin. A case of ear trouble, where Measles had been a big feature in the past history responded to Morbillinum. And after all these years of dullness and neglect, we are receiving fresh impetus and are already getting astonishing results in heart diseases, epilepsy, rheumatoid cases and even in a case of inoperable carcinoma. We have for years been using Variolinum, Tuberculinum, Lueticum, Medorrhinum, and Influenzinum; Only Morbillinum and some others have till now been neglected. So, in future we shall do well to take notice when told of an old acute illness never or tardily recovered from tonsillitis, followed by chorea, then rheumatism, heart damaged in childhood by rheumatic fever, puts in a strong plea for that mighty remedy - Streptococcin".
Take the case of Mr. P.K., 63 years of age who had a gradual loss of vision. No marked general or particular symptoms. There was a history of severe flu at 18 years of age which recurred a few years later. A small hook on which to hang a remedy. Influenzinum 50M. Three weeks later vision greatly improved.
Tylers advice: "We urge the homoeopathic profession to realize that Nosode treatment is Homoeopathy and nothing else. So, make your self masters in the use of nosodes in daily practice. Find a new power at your disposal, but remember it is not as easy as rolling off a log.
Dr. D.M. Foubister comments - "There is a generally accepted principle of homoeopathic prescribing that the remedy which was indicated at the time of acute illness, but was not given, can be effective years later in clearing an aftermath of illness". (Take as examples - Dunhams famous case of nervous deafness cured by Mezereum on the history of suppressed milk-crusts 13 years earlier. Or H.C. Allens case of impotency cured with Lac-can on the history of diptheria with symptoms of that remedy).
XII. Characteristics of Nosodes: A few outstanding symptoms of some leading Nosodes are given here as examples :-
Psorinum:
Pessimist - hopeless despair; despair of recovery. Offensive discharges,
purulent; body smells offensive though well washed. Feels well the day before the attack.
Chilly - must wear a warm cap even in summer
Asthma, cough, bronchitis better lying on the back with arms spread out.
Appetite increased at night or in pregnancy.
Itching worse at night, from heat of bed - sleeplessness
Syphilinum:
General aggravation of all complaints at NIGHT; feels miserable. Bone
pains aggravated at night, gnawing, sawing pains.
Compulsive (neurotic) checking of things done; washing of hands.
Alcoholism, hereditary tendency to.
Pains increase and decrease gradually.
Leucorrhoea profuse, soaks through the napkin, runs down the heels. Ulceration; succession
of abscesses with foul or green pus. Utter prostration and debility on awaking in the
morning.
Hopeless, despair of recovery.
Aversion to company.
Medorrhinum:
General amelioration at the sea and from sea bathing.
History of early heart disease in parents.
Craves ice, meat, fat, oranges, unripe fruit. Craves cold drinks.
Dyspnoea better from assuming the knee chest position.
Great sensitivity of the soles of the feet; cannot walk on them.
Uncovers the feet at night; burning feet (Sulph)
Sleeps on abdomen or in knee chest position.
Relief with the onset of discharges - leucorrhoea, urethral, post nasal.
Heart, streptococcal infection of - or rheumatoid arthritis (Lyc, Led)
Aggravation daytime; amelioration evening, onset of darkness.
Memory weak; loses the thread of conversation.
Painful stiffness of every joint in the body-rheumatism.
Intense restlessness and fidgety legs and feet (Zinc)
Intense menstrual colic; terrible bearing down labor pains; must press the feet against
support; as in labor.
Tuberculinum:
Chronically enlarged tonsils (tubercular family history)
Unreasoning terror in a child at a medical examination or with strangers. Uncontrolled
tantrums. Shrieking.
Fear of dogs and cats
Craving - cold, milk, sweets, smoked meat and bacon, pork, ham.
Hyperactive, demanding, capricious. Deliberatively destructive and malicious. Intolerant
of contradiction. Indifferent to punishment and reprimands.
Head banging in anger.
Passionate desire to travel.
Needs change and excitement.
Emaciation despite eating well (Nat-mur, Iod). Allergy to milk
and cats.
Worse before a stormy weather, change of weather. better on mountains.
Long fine hair on back of children along the spine.
Recurring chest colds. Bronchitis, pneumonia.
Symptoms ever changing. Ailments affecting one organ, then another - the lungs, brain,
kidneys, liver, stomach, nervous system.
Pains beginning suddenly, ceasing suddenly (Opp Syphil, Stann).
Loquacity during fever.
Lyssin
(Hydrophobinum):
The sight or sound of running water or pouring water aggravates all
complaints (causes urging for stool or urine).
Cannot bear the heat of sun (Gels, Glon, Lach, Nat-m)
Impulse to stab himself.
Confusion from dazzling or reflected light from water or mirror (Stram).
Mentally quick and alert; all senses heightened.
Great difficulty in swallowing a morsel or pills.
Feels the pain of others, as if it is her own.
Constant spitting of ropy, frothy saliva.
Very critical and scolding; impatient, violent anger.
Fear of being alone; wants someone next to him all the time.
History of rabies vaccine in patient or family, or animal bites. Craves chocolate or
strange things during pregnancy.
Inclination to be rude, abuse, to bite and strike, reckless.
Sexual desire very abnormal.
Vagina very sensitive, rendering coition very painful.
Thirst with inability to swallow. Severe constriction of throat prevents swallowing - even speech is difficult.
Bluish discolouration of wounds.
