I had been treating a patient of chronic pharyngitis, with recurrent cough and coryza, who brought his 5 years old son for consultation. The boy was passing urine involuntarily even in the daytime. He had a habit of biting his lips and disobeying his parents. His parents termed him short tempered and irritable. He was fond of milk and ice but disliked ice-cream. Like his father, he too suffered from a bad throat and passed dry hard stools every alternate day. He had a dry cough which persisted at night during sleep. When I asked his name, the boy spat on my face and repeated the act again on further questioning.
I took this as the key symptom and referred to the rubric:
- Spits in faces of people (Kents Rep. 82). Bell, Calc, Cup, Stram,
Verat were listed.
Some other rubrics taken were- - Obstinate (stubborn) KR 69 Bell.
- Irritability KR 57 Bell
- Biting (KR 9) Bell
- Urination involuntary KR 659 Bell
Belladonna 30, three doses were given three hourly, followed by placebo.
Within a week he stopped the involuntary passage of urine. His anger reduced and he also stopped spitting on peoples faces.
