Hashi - A Brief Report
NATIONAL JOURNAL OF HOMOEOPATHY 1993 Nov / Dec Vol II NO 6.
Dr Dhingra R C.

The 2 Day National Seminar was organised by the Hahnemannian Society of Homoeopathicians of India, popularly known as HASHI, a Government aided voluntary organisation committed to promote Homoeopathy and its scientific basis, on 30th and 31st October 1993.

Dr. R.L. Jussal, the Chairman of the Society while welcoming the dignitaries mentioned the two drugs Ign and Staph for bringing up the Lithium level in depressions.

Dr. R.C. Dhingra, the Secretary General of the Society, said that the Growing incidence of Endocrinological disorders may be due to stress and strain of modern life, polluted environment or iatrogenic causes.

In the first scientific session Dr. (Col) P.K. Chugha, an endocrinologist from INMAS gave an opening talk on "Bird Eye view of Endocrinology and its Importance in Human Physiology" and said that latest studies have confirmed that there is an integrated function of Neuro-endocrine system with Hypothalamus as a mediator.

Dr. Diwan Harish Chand gave an elaborate account with slides of the important role played by Homoeopathy in Endocrinology. He clarified that during whole life the personality of man is governed by hormones and that Homoeopathy considers emotional, behavioural and personality profile, while prescribing for a disease.

The various aspects of endocrinology and its related problems like, Diabetes Mellitus, Thyroid dysfunction, Menopausal Syndrome and other issues, were discussed at length, with emphasis on Homoeopathic therapeutical methods.

Dr. D.P. Rastogi, Director, CCRH gave an account of clinical verification of Hypoglycemic effect of Cephalandra indica in patients of Diabetes Mellitus.

On the 2nd day in the 3rd scientific session Dr.(Col) J.R. Bansal, VSM, Head Thyroidology, INMAS gave a very informative, educative talk on Thyroid disorders, Hypo / Hyper function and the related problems including enlargement of glands both diffuse and nodular, benign and malignant, inflammatory and congenital.

There was a Research paper from CCRH on the Role of Homoeopathy in Endocrinology by Dr. Ravunder who said hormones now are considered as information transferring molecules. Circulating levels of hormones indicate the Endocrine activity. Though some hormonal effects occur in seconds, others require more time to show their effects which continue for months and even years. This chronicity holds true to that of Hahnemanns chronic miasmatic theory.

Dr. E.N. Sundaram from Homoeopathic Drug Research Institute, Lucknow gave an account of his research studies of the new drug Coffea Arabica carried out on albino rats to evaluate the therapeutic potentiality and its consequential influence on various endocrine profiles with probable mode of action.

To conclude, there is a need for integrated studies by both the allopathic and the homoeopathic institutions for the treatment of the growing incidence of Endocrinological disorders.
