Ms H.A. 18 years of age, a college student doing her B. Com complained of heaviness in the chest. Has to wake up suddenly at midnight or early morning. There was a history of depression, and poor concentration since one month.
This patient was a sensitive, impressionable young girl who was good in her studies and had amicable relationship with friends and family. Of late she could barely concentrate on her studies, had fear of failing and refused to attend college. Often she had spells of weeping.
Revealed only about a small tiff with friends. She was given Ignatia 1M followed by Nat-mur 1M HS. After a week her depression was less, she talked a great deal, but the chest discomfort at midnight, refusal to go to college and poor concentration continued.
She had refused to go for a party arranged by a boy in her group. Other girls in the group had different commitments and she had no female company. So she declined the invitation. For this mistake of hers, the whole group singled her out, stopped talking to her and alleged that she did not trust the boys character. Time and again she was saying - "Why did they do this to me for no fault of mine? They all feel I was wrong".
No amount of psychotherapy or repetition of the above medicines in the same order helped.
Synthetic Repertory was consulted for the rubric - Delusion accused, she is, (pg - 232) which gives Laurocerasus and Zincum.
Laurocerasus 30 HS for 2 nights relieved all her complaints.
