A case of Nasal Catarrh

A nurse aged 35, consulted me for her complaint of catarrhal nasal discharge, which started with the onset of winter. She got paroxysmal sneezing followed by burning sensation in the nasal passage. Aggravation from cold winds and wet rainy weather. Amelioration by warm covering and hot inhalation. Loss of sense of smell. She had no significant past history but her father had suffered from bronchitis.
Based on her family history, I prescribed Tub-bov
200 one dose. I asked her to see me the next day.
On the following day, I consulted Dr. Boenninghausens Therapeutic Pocket
Book (TPB) for repertorial analysis. In all 10 drugs covered all the rubrics of the case. Rhus-tox ranked the highest in number of marks. So I prescribed Rhus-tox 30, 6 doses for two days. In a short period of time the
patient was completely cured.
EDITOR : It would have been better for the physician to wait for a few days after Tub-bov was given to see the remedy response. The patient is cured but it now is difficult to judge which drug actually helped to cure.
