This is the spiders web. Dr. W. Boericke in his Homoeopathic materia medica under Aranea-diadema (Pg. 69) gives the following characteristics of this drug - "Cardiac sleeplessness, increased muscular energy. Excitement and nervous agitation in febrile states. Dry asthma, harassing coughs; periodic headaches with intense nervous erethism. Obstinate intermittents. Acts immediately on arterial system. Pulse full, strong and compressible. Lowers pulse rate. Marked periodical diseases. Hectic, broken down patients. Symptoms come suddenly with cold clammy skin and numbness of hands and legs when at rest. Continued chilliness.
More details about the actions of spider webs are found in Dr. Anschutzs book New, old and forgotten remedies (Pages 401-404) giving confirmatory evidence to the symptoms listed by Dr. Boericke. It appears to be more relevant to hydrogenoid constitutions (Note - Aranea-d is classified as a hydrogenoid remedy by Dr. Grauvogl). In intermittent fevers, it reduces the intensity of the paroxysms and symptoms of irritation viz. tremors, startings, twitching, spasms vomiting and delirium. It gave marked relief in irritating dry coughs. Calm and refreshing sleep was produced. To ones suffering from cancer pains, it gave ease and comfortable sleep.
In case of distressing asthma, where the patient was not able to lie down in bed because of a sense of suffocation, it produced sound and uninterrupted sleep. It is also reported that in a patient suffering from pthisis pulmonalis it acted like a charm inducing great sleep like a dose of Opium. It was also found useful in restraining troublesome hiccough.
